A short story about a mystery.

The Mystery of the Man and the Eight-Legged Freaks

There was a man that lived down the street from me.  He was blind and deaf and had no family left.  He lived in a huge mansion all by himself, or so he thought.

One day I was walking down the street, and I saw something in his mansion that was very large and hairy.  I couldn’t tell what it was, so I went closer to get a better look.  “Ugh!” I screamed as I saw large spiders up to seven feet tall, crawling in the mansion from a window.  These were the deadliest spiders I had ever seen.  They had eight large eyes the size of a softball.  Their legs were taller than me and very hairy. Their bodies were very slimy and grimy.  There were large webs everywhere that covered the whole mansion, except for the living room where my neighbor Dr. Mikewitz was sitting, unaware of what was around him.  He never left that spot in his comfortable chair, so he had no clue what was in his mansion.

As soon as I saw everything I needed, I ran to the police station quickly, but very unsafely.  I had jay-walked and almost gotten run over a couple of times.  When I got to the station, I tried to convince the police I wasn’t joking or pulling a prank, but they just wouldn’t believe me.  I yelled at them saying “I’m telling the truth, my neighbor is going to be eaten!”  They still didn’t believe me.  After a long time of me bothering them to come, they finally did.  When the police and I got there, there was blood all over the place and sitting in his chair was Dr. Mikewitz unharmed.  All the spiders lay dead in the large mansion around Dr. Mikewitz, but there were none in the living room.  The police had to put Dr. Mikewitz in a nursing home for many reasons I don’t remember.  The police blew up the house to get rid of the spider guts, blood, webs, and especially the fowl smell.  A month later a family started building a house on that spot.  Dr. Mikewitz died that day while he was sleeping.  The family that had just moved in left within a week because a ghost floating in a chair.  They said it was Dr. Mikewitz, but I don’t believe it.  To this day no one goes close to the mysterious mansion because the mystery of the ghost of the old man Dr. Mikewitz.
