A young woman finds she has a rare condition that threatens he life and the life of her unborn children. After several miscarriages a doctor offers hope but at a significant price to the man who loves her. Will he have the courage to do what is necessary?

“She’s OK. Just sleepy like you. The baby is fine. He’s in the nursery. Just try to get awake. We’ll be getting you to your room as soon as you’re both ready. The doctor will be in to see you then. She’s in the OR doing another C-sect right now, she had two C-sects in a row. She’s having a busy day.”

Dave nodded and lay back on the pillow. He was tired, very tired. Why was it taking the doctor so long to come in to tell them if they had won the battle. The nurse said the baby is in the nursery. That was a good beginning. He smiled as his mind startef to recounted the events that brought them to this place. It had been a wild ride but it was worth it. He was a dad.

Lynn felt as if she were inside a long tunnel with a light at the end of it. She kept trying unsuccessfully to turn her head from it. In just a few minutes she went from a very sleepy state to an alert one. She could feel something on her belly. She slid her right hand under the sheet. She encountered a very large bandage. Then she remembered the delivery room, the long and unsuccessful labor, the concern for the baby and the doctor’s quick decision to perform a C-sect. “What happened to the baby?” She thought. Then her eyes focussed on the next bed. The figure in it was Dave. “Why was he here?” She was the one who had the baby. Then as her mind began to function more normally, she began to piece it together.

September 1982

Lynn stepped out of the shower. When she finished drying she hung the towel on the rack and looked down at her belly. It was bulging very slightly. Her breasts were full. Already several pairs of her slacks and two skirts were hanging in the back of the closet. She would not need them till next spring. She had just bought bra’s one size larger. She mused as she looked at her body, hopefully she would be able to get back in shape after the pregnancy. She smiled as she looked at her body. When she was small she told herself her family would be a big one, three children at the least. A child should not grow up alone.

This seems like a very interesting story, as the others seem as well! I’ll get around to continuing it!
