A young woman finds she has a rare condition that threatens he life and the life of her unborn children. After several miscarriages a doctor offers hope but at a significant price to the man who loves her. Will he have the courage to do what is necessary?
Dave and Lynn would later look at the situation and realize that what they had contrived to do happened on its own when they quit trying to make it happen. For the next year Dan would travel to the area to visit Pat nearly every weekend. That travel was ended by a wedding.
The final trimester was tiring to both Dave and Lynn but they were relieved. They were on the home stretch and soon they would have their baby. They expected Lynn’s labor to start at night, like it had for most of their friends. They should have known they never did things like others. Lynn went into labor at 1:37 PM in conference room 2 on May 27. She and Dave were attending a 1:30 meeting that was struggling to start with only half of the participants. She felt a contraction, looked over at Dave and put her hand on her belly. Four minutes later there was another. This time, the pain was greater and she decided they had better get ready to go. They picked up their things and went to their desks. Just as they were getting ready to leave another pain hit and Lynn had to hold the desk to stand. Several seconds later Dave felt the sensation of nausea like that after an injury and had to stand still.
Jeff came over followed by Pam. “Do you need help?” was the question.
“I think we had better have someone take us to the hospital,” Dave replied.
“We’ll take you in my car and we’ll pick yours up and take it home later,” Jeff said. Lynn gave Pat a card, “Please call Dr, Brend and tell her we’re on our way.”
Normally he would have declined but Dave was in no position to argue. Before he could move the next pain came and he felt nauseous. Two wheel chairs appeared and they were whisked off to the car and on their way.
A small amount of confusion about the patients was generated when they arrived at the hospital but Dr. Brend’s timely arrival resolved the problem. They were soon in a labor room and things seemed to be proceeding. After about eight hours of labor Lynn was exhausted, Dave was ill and there were early signs of distress for the child. Suddenly, Dr. Brend called for a C-sect team and Dave felt himself loosing consciousness.
