Strangers from a strange land.
My original intent had been eavesdropping while invisible but I was soon to learn that nothing was invisible to these people. They considered ghosts just a nuisance and since there was no way of scaring them, they were soon left alone. Realizing that I wasn’t interested in scaring but rather in learning, and discerning that I’d come from the future, they soon took me into their confidence.
They had I discovered, come from a land known as Atlantis, the first as early as one hundred and fifty years ago and continuing through the years, with the largest migration happening some thirty years before my arrival. There had been much fighting in the land brought on by greed and selfishness and they talked of explosives which I could only guess to be like gunpowder, only hundreds of times more powerful. Atlantis was I would eventually learn, a continent where great learning flourished and where people traveled through the air in flying machines, where voices and even images could travel for thousands of miles. The continent with it’s vast knowledge had been completely destroyed, submerged beneath the Atlantic ocean! Not all Atlanteans had come to Egypt of course, many had travelled to other parts of Africa, to Europe and still others to the Americas. Their skin I noticed, had a reddish cast as opposed to the dark skin of the Egyptian but intermarriage was beginning to change that. Perhaps my biggest shock came when I realized the ages of some Atlanteans, for many who by appearance would be considered less than forty years of age were more than three hundred years old! I was told that it was common in their lost homeland for people to live up to one thousand years and due to their ability to understand and practice proper diet and exercise, some of both sexes, grew to heights of ten and even twelve feet.
When these refugees first began to arrive in Egypt, the scientifically advanced Atlanteans found that they had little in common with the original inhabitants of their new home, and began to set up their old way of life. Leaders of the ruling class in Egypt soon realized that these newcomers with their superior scientific knowledge and radically different social and religious views might well pose a threat. Fortunately, there was among those leaders a highly respected and wise man who saw that by working with the Atlanteans, rather than opposing them much good would come to the country and it’s people. Consequently, there followed a time of great advancement in human relations and all enjoyed a period of moral and mental, as well as spiritual and physical advancement. Enlightened enough to realize that such wise leadership might not always prevail, they looked for a way to hide the knowledge that the Atlanteans had brought with them, as well as the history of their lost continent. Hence the building of the sphinx with it’s many hidden chambers, the secrets of which it was hoped some advanced future generation would be able to decipher.
That I had arrived here at such a time, I felt was no coincidence and suspected that it was the sphinx itself that was responsible for planting the date in my mind. Remembering the original intent of my journey, I felt that this era must also be where I could learn the fate of a dead ghost. Perhaps too, it was time for me to return to my family and to an age that held fewer surprises. My Atlantean friends found it amusing that one would be afraid of dying and explained that they had seen many ghosts, as well as humans die – all knowing exactly what was to follow. Most humans, they explained went directly to a place of rest and relaxation where they reviewed their past life and planned for their next incarnation into the earth plane, or if advanced enough to the next level of consciousness. It was the same for a ghost, only this time he had no choice and must go directly to what we term Heaven or Hades and eventually return to physicality.
