When I arrived at the opulent palace of Menelaus, I was awed by his riches. His palace was full of things of which you can’t imagine, golden chariots, statues of the purest marble, and of course thousands of cups made of solid gold, for only the purest wine. I also was astounded by the sheer amount of wealth which he has acquired.  While I was talking, he said that I look brilliantly like my father, Odysseus. I can’t believe it, I am more like him than I had ever thought. Menelaus thinks that my father is still alive, just lost somewhere because he has not been found dead.  He also told me that he was a fighter like no other and his attack and battle plans were brilliant as ever. When I was attempting to depart from his palace, he offered a magnificent chariot and two of his finest horses but I declined them, they wouldn’t make it to Ithaca and then there is no good land for them on the rocky hills of Ithaca. Instead he gave me a bowl of silver with a golden rim, made by the Hephaestus himself. This I kept as a memory of him and for my father, who he gifted it to me in favor of.
