This is a story I wrote a while back and thought you guys might enjoy it.
Hi my name is Dale Nexder and I am a reporter for a state newspaper for Texas but I was sent to Oklahoma to report this and take pictures of the race and the day before and here it is. It was the day before the Oklahoma Land Rush and there were hundreds or even thousands of people and probably just as much in acres to give away to who ever got there first. The excitement was building the horses for whinnying and the people were drunk. People were buying horses buying wagons and fixing wagons. One horse died from what I heard I also heard it was an Irish men’s horse they said the thing was extremely old, and the only reason the guy bought it was because he was scared of the other one that he was shown. That’s just what I heard. There are a bunch of rich snobs up here too. I believe there was some fighter here that went all the way to the top then lost to the Italian Champion. Hope I get to meet the guy he sounds pretty cool and he would probably have some stories to tell. Well it is night time now everyone is getting drunk now. This one guy fell through the canvas of the tent covering the bar the guy was telling some story about his love life including some rich lady that left him or something can’t understand these Irish people half the time. Especially the drunk ones. Well everyone is going to bed now I might as well do the same. It is the day of the Oklahoma Land Rush I am standing on the side taking photos and taking notes for the Newspaper. I was right under where the cannon was shot off to signal the start there was one horse that was making quite a ruckus manned by the same guy that fell through the canvas in the bar i believe his name is Joseph. I think he might be a handful during the race because he has a green-broke horse very wild horse if you ask me and he cant get control of it but as I have told you before he was a boxer so he will probably just punch it in the face or something to get it under control. There goes an early goer and there he goes down the track I don’t think he is going to get very far….BAM….and he is down for the count he just got shot either in the back or the head i cant tell from here. Now that that is over with lets get back to the starting line.BOOM…there goes the cannon to start the race looks like Joseph is having a rough time controlling his horse and ouch he just punched it right under its eye now he jumps on the horse and is going past the starting line and man is he getting some speed out of that horse. He is blowing past all the competitors as if they are standing still. Now he is caught up with the rich people from Ireland. Oops his horse lost some speed for some reason now they steer to the right further from me even more I am on the run trying to keep up to keep up with the story now they are going down a steep cliff I’m not going down there I guess I will watch them from right here now there is a brawl in the creek they are just throwing punches back and forth now Joseph rides off guess i have to go down the cliff now. Now Joseph is at the spot where the flag goes but he cant because he wants his girl who turns out to be the rich people daughter who’s boyfriend is the one he just punched in the face a couple of times. Didn’t see that coming wow shows how great a reporter I am. Now here comes the boyfriend again mad at Joseph. Joseph just charges at him while the guy is on his horse. Joseph takes down the horse but while doing so he crushes himself and bangs his head against a rock now the horse just gets up and the guy just watches his girlfriend weep over this man that he has just killed telling her to come while she is telling him to go. As the guys leaves with his horse and flag to find some piece of different land. As she weeps over him some miracle happened he open is his eyes and said” I ain’t Dyen twice.” This has been a report from Dale Nexder Texas Newspaper.
