Sometimes we are left to wonder if we should question any out of the normal activity.

There was once a old, huge Victorian home that sat in the middle of the block. This eight bedroom home had three floors to be exact and hard wood floors that ran through the house. This house was built in the early 1900’s and previous owners were from out of state. They purchased the old home for their summer property since it sat blocks from the beach. Every summer the home would fill up with the family and their friends and laughter would ring throughout. However in the dark months, the home was vacant and some thought of it to be spooked with ghosts. The seasoners would go back home when school started and return in the summer months. In the dark months the home remained quiet with alarming activity. The lights would flicker from inside room to room. First the first floor, then the third floor. No one dared to cross the property line for fear of attack of what was inside. Was it an evil entity or a spirit that wondered endlessly? Another nuisance was that of a pounding noise that would wake up the neighbors early in the morning as if construction was taken place on the old property. When the winters would come, it was told that icicles would hang on the roof over the wrap around porch, long after the snow melted. Laughter would be heard througout the night and footsteps would echo in the day. On the large fenced in yard an old brown barn sat. It was said it was used to hide orphans of the war hundreds of years prior, in fear of being taken away for slaves. The children ate whatever scraps were brought to them by the owners of the home and slept in mounds of hay. Some say there may have been about 40 little children that made the barn their home. One winters day the owners of the old home were found out that they were harbouring would-be slaves and were executed along with the children. Since then, the home was thought to be haunted with their spirits. The playfullness that is seen from among the neighborhood is said to be the children having fun running throughout the home, since when they were alive the old barn is all they knew. They now have the run of the property without any fear. When the new owners would come in the summer months and hear the stories of their home with paranormal activity, they couldnt help but wonder; Is there really something beyond the grave that Summer invades and protects their home while they are gone or is it something that stays all year round and welcomes them into a family that never left?
