Random thoughts on aliens and cars.
The Other Side
I was stuck in traffic a little while ago, and a curious thought came over me and wouldn’t let go. While looking at the different cars, their models and labels and such, has anybody else ever came across the idea that they somewhat resemble humans or dogs? A Ford Lynx for example resembles a man with braces. Or a Revo can sort of look like a teenaged boy always on the run, or always on the go.
Anyway, sometimes my imagination just takes me to a whole new reality though it is quite unfortunate that it only lives inside the throes of my mind.
Then again going to back to that crazed thought, I once read a book about some aliens visiting our planet and mistaking us humans for our cars. From what I remember, the aliens thought we were savage beasts that are in need of training and it disgusted them to see how chaotic we were, and how noisy. These aliens apparently were also in the midst of heavy traffic where the cars were horning at each other, cutting through each other’s lanes and yeah basically just chaotic.
While they were about to report back to their general, they were amazed to see the sudden commotion stir to a stop. Everyone started parting ways to let a single vehicle pass by. The aliens thought this was the leader of the humans, with lights that are blinking at a rapid pace and nonstop wailing; red and blue swirls.
Turns out it was an ambulance rushing to the hospital. Anyway I was still a kid when I read this book or I’m not even sure if it was a poem. I can’t remember the exact details but the gist of the story is there.
Now as I am recalling my thoughts on that, a thought struck me funny. From what I remember, all the aliens saw were cars. How would they feel if they saw the humans get out of the vehicle? Would they think it gross? I mean, imagine if you thought a human is a car and something gets out of it, would you think it was an internal organ? A brain? Intestines? Well whatever your thoughts on it, it just struck me funny. And yes, it would probably disgust me as well. I mean eww come on.
Anyway as I was spacing out having those thoughts while driving, it took me awhile to realize I was almost near my house. Turns out I was driving the whole time. I wasn’t aware that I was already past the heavy traffic. Oh well at least I got home okay. J
