A short story about stereotypes.
A rnepair worker shakes his head in frustration, unable to fix the stubborn generator. It doesn’t seem to want to work anymore. The repair worker sinks on the catwalk, and ponders on complex electric structures. It is rudely interrupted by a group of flying air bikes, ridden by a circus assortment of teenagers, whooping and roaring war cries. The worker honestly doesn’t know where the heck are the police.
The gang of air bike hooders rampage around the deserted spots of town, running over unused energy canisters and wires, speeding through the tunnels like maniacs. Of course, this is what they want to look like. The leader was the only one who seemed to have any class in manners. He kept silent, and makes his way through town without touching anything; he is floating on top of his airboard, like a hologram strapped to a uncontrolled floater. But, as leader, it is his job to look as dangerous as possible. Two gleaming blades are strapped to his back, and a rifle is hooked to his leg. The leader wears silver battle armor, with custom insignias all over his suit. It made him look like a freelancing mercenary. But, the most chilling of them all is his face. His eyes is blood red, and glows like the sun, and his complexion, despite his appearance, is startlingly attractive.
They stop at a run down building, with an uneven roof, rusted metal doors, and boarded windows. That is what the gang wants you to think. Inside is a full blown party room, complete with ear blasting speakers, disc jockey system, jet black flooring, and one “helluva lighting system”
“Set it up.” is all the leader said. That set off a bombshell of insanity, or rather controlled insanity, if you will. All of the motley crew hops on their airboards, and darts off to all the food and drink stations available to the gang. They would not be back for several dozens of minutes. The leader is given the job of “manipulation”. He strolls to the DJ, and inputs the latest trends of music. Quite a surprise for the gang. He then sets to work in installing a Radiance Mk III lighting set. Improvements and spiffing is all “manipulation” really means.
“You really know what you are doing.” a voice speaks behind his back. He doesn’t say anything, due to the fact that he can feel that the person means no harm. After several minutes, he replies
