As I was waiting for my friend to show me around, I stumbled to a trap door. It intrigued me to pull the latch and climb down. Like a fool, I did, and saw a door with bright lights coming out of it from the cracks…
I walked towards the door, which was creeping open, slowly and painfully, blinding me with the light. But something about it made me forget that pain and keep going. This was a castle, after all! Anything could be here, itching to be found. I walked closer…
“WAKE UP!” yelled my bossy sister. “YOU HAVE TO CLEAN MY CAR!” I sighed and got up out of bed. It was all a dream. Maybe, just maybe, it was a sign from God to push me to get out of bed and do something! There was after all a girl who lived next door in a castle. All I did each day was go to school (fail miserably), eat, drink and sleep. Not much of a life. Not once, had I dreamt that something so exciting and so real could happen! “I must find out if this is true”, I thought, and so began my adventure! My plan was to befriend someone with a castle in my dream, and sneak into the attic to find out the truth.
There was only one problem. The girl next door, who lived in the castle, was a real snob. Her name was Lilia and when she wanted something she got it. Nearly every single day, I would hear “Mum I want this, and that”, and her mum would reply “Yes dear, anything for my darling daughter”. They were so rich and it made me so angry to see the way they treated other people. They thought the people were stupid and dirty, ultimately treating them like dirt. But if I wanted to find out the truth, I had to become friends with Lilia and wish for the best.
As I walked towards the castle, I thought of the things I would have to do to be recognised by Lilia. But I had an idea of what to do. I’d flatter Lilia’s mum and then talk to Lilia. It was foolproof. Almost foolproof.
The plan worked well with her mum, but Lilia was still in shock. “What do you want?” she asked. I told her lies that we could be best friends because we had the same interests, being the head of something, being important. I did not tell her directly, but she understood very well. “OK, we”ll see how this goes. But don’t go around and tell everyone I’m your best friend. If you want to be in my group, you’ll have to change your image,” she told me. With a handshake, my adventure kicked of to a great start. Now all I needed was time.
