Caroline was in awe as she stared around at her stunning surroundings, the furniture, the paintings, the ornaments, the fireplaces, everything was amazing. This was the kind of place she had dreamt of since she was a little girl, and now here she was in her very own manor.

Caroline had just had her first book published, for years she had struggled writing articles and short stories earning her small amounts of money now and again, she had never imagined that those insignificant short stories would be compiled into a bestseller. The book had not exactly made her rich beyond her wildest dreams but the profits so far along with what savings she had, allowed her to purchase Creston Manor, which came at a very reasonable price. This had made her hesitant at first because she couldn’t believe that the price was low for no good reason, but her desire to have it overpowered any reservations she had.

Caroline was brought back to earth by the sound of a car horn, Blake had arrived. The only thing that could elate her any more than her perfect manor was her perfect boyfriend in her perfect manor. Blake and Caroline spent their first night in Creston drinking expensive champagne and talking about all the plans they had for the place. Finally in the early hours they retired to the enormous master bedroom and sprung onto the huge four poster bed that was lined with red lace curtains. Everything was perfect.

That night Caroline had the most wonderful dream which she decided would soon be a reality. She had watched as people circulated and danced and laughed in her very own ballroom, and that made her realise a huge party would settle her in nicely.

Over the next two weeks Creston Manor was a hive of activity, Blake was working alongside builders doing renovations, Caroline’s sister Lara was running around with colour charts and fabric swatches dictating notes to her assistant designers and Caroline was working with her best friend Clarissa who just happened to be one of the hottest party planners in the business. Everything was right on schedule.

That night Caroline dreamed about her party again, the dancing the laughing and then things changed.

She was wondering alone in the house following music that wasn’t coming from her ballroom, she listened as she walked the corridors, the music was soft and eerie, just as she was about to locate the source she woke with a start as if something had purposely awoken her but she looked around the room, there was nothing there, then she looked at Blake who was still sound asleep.

The next morning Caroline was phased by her dream and couldn’t shake it she told Blake about it and he explained it away by saying it was only still playing on her mind because it was unresolved because she hadn’t discovered where the music was coming from and that it was only a stupid dream. Caroline’s busy day soon took her mind away from it as she shopped with Clarissa for food and decorations and also the perfect party dress. However that night she had the same dream and for two nights after that, each time the dream was more vivid and eerie.
