Death, pain and suffering are all a part of life and David Milani learns this the hard way as he faces the problems of a society that revolves around money.
He ran full speed down the dark alleyway, the only source of light being the lamps clamped to the surrounding buildings every ten meters or so. Hot on his tale were two Mexican males, both coated in tattoos. Five foot six and a hundred and thirty pounds wasn’t the ideal weight to be running from a pair of muscular gang bangers. The buildings surrounding the alley way were clothed in a green mossy substance and stray cats and large, dirty green dumpsters. The alley way came to an abrupt stop, if he hadn’t noticed in time he probably would have hit the wall. The man swung himself around, sweat and his ragged brown suit coat flying with his momentum. The leading Mexican slowly walked up to him, his face was covered in cross tattoos and a diamond piercing upon his left ear. He pulled out a black stiletto, holding it up like a combat knife as he approached the man, who was scared stiff, he was up against the wall as if he was hoping it would absorb him and get him out of his situation.
“David fuckin’ Milani…when were you gonna call us for our money huh?” The man was speaking with a loud voice, right from the diaphragm. His voice echoed along the alleyway, using the wall as a medium.
“I swear! I’ve almost got it, j-j-just give me a few more days, some guys are about to pay me a lot! Think about it, you’ll get your money with interest!” said David, he spoke with a slight stutter, sweat trickling down his face. He was hoping his bluff would hold, but for how long? For how long would he be able to avoid these men? His debts were because of a gambling addiction, he blew the money away at a casino not long ago. He was in Las Vegas, a city where money theft was a legal business. You walk into a casino a rich man; walk out with less money than a beggar.
The Mexican man stared at him, his brow furrowed, his hand that was holding the stiletto slowly came down to his side. “Only cause the boss likes you and he wants his money, you’ve got two days, two fuckin’ days got it? Or…” as he concluded his sentence he raised his right thumb, bringing it along his neck and running it over his throat in a semblance of death.
