A Short Story for Children. Involving eight great explorers looking for a treasure.
The Pyramid
Once upon a time there were eight great explorers. Their names were James, Joe, Jim, Jack, John, Julie, Jane and Joanne. They were all great friends. Their goal was to find the long lost treasure hidden in the pyramid. When they entered the pyramid Joe, Jack and Julie and fell through a trap door. The rest of them started to run and then they ran into Julie and Joe. “Where is the Jack,” asked the group. Jane and Joe had no idea. They never saw Jack again.
The group of fearless explorers continued on their quest for the treasure. As they continued to walk, they found two doors with letters and numbers written below them. The group decided that three would go one way and the rest would go the other way. The three found another two doors. Joe was very greedy so even though the three decided to go through the right door, he snuck away so that he could go left hoping that he would get to the treasure faster this way. Eventually everyone met up again. They never saw Joe again.
Next the group walked into a maze. James thought that he knew his way around pretty well so he took two others with him and ran off. James wasn’t looking where he was going and he ran into a trap. The other two met up with the group at the end of the maze. They never saw James again.
The explorers ran into an old mirror. Over the mirror hung a sign that had the word “magic” painted on it. Joanne, Jane and Julie all believed in magic. The mirror flashed red and then it sucked the three explorers into it. Each was asked a skill testing question. Joanne failed to get it correct. The mirror spit the other two out again and they never saw Joanne again.
On the ground the remaining four explorers found a genie lamp. They rubbed the lamp and out came a genie. The genie said that they could all make just two wishes. Julie wished to find the treasure and for a new car but the genie thought she was too greedy and made a puff of smoke around Julie and she was gone. Jim and John wished for their friends back and for a new house but the genie thought that they were a bit greedy and made a puff of smoke around them and they were gone. Jane wished for her friends to come back and to be able to leave the pyramid. The genie made another puff of smoke and Jim and John reappeared. The genie said that they got lucky and let them off with a warning about being greedy. Although the genie assured them that it was impossible to get their friends back, he did tell them that the treasure was just up ahead and there was a way out of the pyramid.
Just as the genie had promised, sure enough just up ahead, was a huge treasure and a way out of the pyramid. The three remaining explorers lived happily ever after.
