Short love story.

The Rain:

As the drops fell with the rhythmic sound, I poured myself a cup of coffee. By the window, I sat and watched outside witnessing the people rushing to find shelter, the roads giving reflection of the clouds above,I’ve seen the rain many times before, but somehow I felt it was different. Looking around and enjoying the weather my eyes caught a girl in a rain coat, her hair was wet, struggling to cover her head, she was lifting luggage from the cab. She was new in the neighborhood. I placed the mug by the window pane and hurried down to find her still hustling with the luggage. I approached her and asked if I could help, she looked up with those enviable, expressive and beautiful doe eyes that for a moment I forgot why I was there, with a smile she nodded, and I helped her carry her luggage to her apartment. When I was done with the luggage she asked if I wanted anything, since she was new as I perceived I asked just for water she acknowledged and went to the kitchen and came back with a glass of water. As I took the glass from her hand my fingers accidentally touched hers, and It was like I experienced the most pleasant tranquil. As I finished the glass, she thanked me for the help, and I told her it was nothing…

Later days went by and we both drew closer, and finally I confessed that I was in love with her, to my surprise, she said that she fell in love the moment we first met. It was like everything was so happening the way I ever wanted, I finally found the love of my life, my soul mate. But there was a spontaneous fear of some kind that was indulging me, I couldn’t understand what it was, then one day as I was sitting by the widow,  I saw her crossing the street. I waved at her to get myself noticed and when she looked at me, she smiled and immediately started to cross the road like she had something really great to tell me, but at that very moment she got hit by a car, I screamed and ran down to see her lying on the road, crying. I rested her head on my lap and shouted for help! She looked into my eyes, wiped my tears of and said, “I love you.” Those were her last words, and it was raining……
