A tale of knightly pursuit.
Three young men on a sinking boat
Trying to cross the castle moat
To reach a damsel in distress
That all three men hope to impress.
As the walls they start to scale
The cold and wet they do bewail
Cuts and bruises on their flesh
As across the castle they do thresh.
Cut and thrust, they fight their way
As if in a grand ballet
At last they reach her guarded door
The guard asleep upon the floor.
They enter in her chamber bare
To find that there is no one there
As they leave upon the door
They spy a note they’d missed before.
Gentlemen you took so long
And though I fear I’ve done you wrong
I gave in to my captor’s song
And into love I fell headlong.
