Why was Luke so breathless when he arrived at school? Why does he need to talk to Misty? Who are Luke and Misty? And why are they so rich?
After school Luke and Misty shooed me away, obviously so they could have that conversation that they were talking about earlier. Apparently it was to be a secret conversation, Iza not allowed. They were in the gym and I was standing in the hall making scuff marks on the floor. Eventually they came out, Misty’s and Luke’s faces were both red. It looked like they were angry.
“What’s going on guys?” Misty looked up at me and all the anger left her face. She hugged me quickly and grabbed my hand. She pulled me down the hallway; I could hear Luke following closely behind. “Seriously now, what is going on? Before I was curious…now I’m freaked.”
Luke was the one who answered, “We need to get you out of the school. Now.”
“Why?”
Misty replied, “It’s a secret.” She smiled back at me but I saw her frown slightly at Luke.
“Misty.” That’s all Luke said. Misty nodded and started to run.
We ran all the way to Luke’s house. I’d never been there before. Or to any of his houses. This one was huge. I knew Luke’s family was rich, but this wasn’t even a house. It was somewhere between a mansion and a castle. It was huge. I could hear our footsteps echo. The ceilings were so high. There was definitely a gothic influence to this house.
Luke took his shoes off, Misty and I copied him. “Are you guys hungry? I can cook.” I shook my head. I wasn’t even listening to what he said; I was still shocked by the mansion/castle. Luke laughed and grabbed my hand, “Would you like the grand tour?” I nodded. Luke pulled me through several rooms.
He led me into a bedroom, “This is my room.” My jaw dropped. So much for gothic architecture. This room was oriental. It was so dark, but beautiful. He turned on the lights and it got even better. It still wasn’t very bright. He had a round paper lantern hanging from the roof in the center of the room, and along the edges were rectangular lanterns. Everything was red. The lanterns were bright red. The bedspread was a darker red. Although, the Carpet was black.
Luke smiled and walked towards the back wall. He stopped in front of some paper paneling and slid open a paper door. He motioned for me to walk through and I did, but stopped soon as I walked through. It was a bathroom. Everything was tiled, the floor, the walls, even the ceiling. The tiles were many shades of red. His bathroom was bigger than my bedroom.
