A part story. It’s my first time writing in first person (I can’t put the ending up yet as it ended with an anticlimax – a really bad anticlimax!) It’s a bit dark in places but thats because this was a writing challenge I set for myself.

Chapter One – Lyxis

Daisy’s coffee shop was so stifling that, after ordering my black coffee, I decided to sit at one of the tables outside. Maybe I should have ordered a milkshake – or something else that was ice cold – for even sitting outside was too hot. There was a distinct lack shade on this side of the road and even the gentle wind blowing my hair into my mouth did not stop the sweat from pouring down my back in waves. Okay so that was a slight exaggeration but I must admit that I was very glad that I was wearing a vest top and shorts instead of the black jeans and a jumper. It had looked like it was going to be a cold day earlier.

My coffee arrived and I took a sip while watching a robin jumping from branch to branch as I tried not to focus on the memories of three years ago that kept on haunting me at all times of the day and night. I could still clearly hear the terrified screaming and I could still taste the coppery tang of the blood that had poured into my mouth as I ripped open the man’s neck with my own razor sharp teeth.

The little robin started to sing and I shook my head sharply to clear the memories away. In that moment, I noticed Alex Whittling, my boyfriend. He walked casually towards me from the other side of the street. He looked like what I thought a god would look like, that is if they walked among us; tall and slim with long black hair tied back in a ponytail. he had mischievous green eyes that always looked as if he were laughing. Yet there were secrets hidden behind those eyes and I wondered what he was hiding.

“How did you get out here” he asked when he finally reached my table.

“I walked.” I answered. “Well, as far as the nearest bus stop.”

“What are you doing here anyway?”
