By Bryan Wegman.
The right side of the bed. The smile of anticipation of this new day. The feelings of new. A fresh start. Back to the life that I had missed for so long. This feeling of happiness. This new girl she’s so beautiful. She has long brown hair that flows over her shoulders. Blue eyes that even the ocean would be jealous of. The kind of smile you only see on commercials for toothpaste. The kind of body that every man dreams of at night. The most perfect girl I have ever had the privilege to lay my eyes upon and she wants me. Of all the people in all the bars around town she found me. We talked. She took my number and even remembered my name. My body floats from my bed to my kitchen where the smell of brewed coffee sends a jolt of joy from my nostrils to my brain and shivering down the rest of my spine. I pour myself a cup and think more of this Grace. I can’t help but picture her as someone I have seen before. A dream girl of mine. The way she flowed ever so perfectly through the crowd of people with a smile of joy upon her face when she finally met me. She said she would swing by sometime today. This excitement is overwhelming. As I sit in my chair with my warm cup of coffee in my hand I hear a knock upon my door. Who could it be this early in the morning. Joy sweeps me to my feet as I leap across the floor to the door. In the peep hole I can see those eyes. Eyes I would recognize from anywhere. Accompanied by a tiny figure. Does she have a kid? I swing open the door.
“Grace hello what are you doing here so early?”
“There’s someone I want you to meet. This is your daughter Olivia.”
