A short story depicting the events of a day of a test.
“Mrs. Hendricks has one of the most difficult subjects at the school.” My brother would chant this every time I said I wanted to take her A.P. class. Daniel said her honors class is also difficult. I found this out after she had given us a couple of tests. My friends that sit around me gave me some advice and tips for the test
“Bryan just study when you’re told and read the chapter.” Lindsey just wouldn’t let me forget to do that. Mason kept whispering in my ear that he reads the chapter once and goes over everything in his head and always gets a good grade. I decided to read the sections and study normally on the upcoming chapter seven tests. When the day before the test came and I still hadn’t studied I started to worry. I needed to study for this test if I wanted to past. As I sat down I flipped through the book to find the right page. Just when I settled down with the book opens the phone rings. I rush to the phone to shut it up when I notice that my friend is calling me.
“Hey Bryan, yo we’re heading out to the mall right now you wanna join us? Rachel and Elizabeth will be there. C’mon man you know you want to.”
“Dude I got this test I need to study for. I need to pass it. Maybe I can hit you up on it next week.”
“Ya sure, next week will be good, can’t guarantee everyone will be there though.” He said this with a disappointed sigh and hung up almost instantly. I went back to my studying wondering if I had made the right decision. I read the chapter once and skimmed through it a second time getting all the details I felt were necessary. As I went to the school next day, I took the test knowing I didn’t do very well on it. All I could think about during the test was missing out on the mall, and half the questions I had no idea what the answer was. I just looked at the paper inquisitively, closed my eyes, and randomly chose a, b, c, or d.
The next day she handed the tests back. I was waiting for my test to be handed to me expecting at least a 95 with all the studying I had done. When I saw the cover of my test my face fell ten feet. Nothing close to what I had expected, a 76! How could this be? I studied all day. I went over and over it. I had it all memorized and yet still a c. Unbelievable. So after gaping at my test I was able to yank myself away from it long enough to hear the sentence “There will be a seven page test next week on several chapters.”
