Last Saturday, we had our final Triathlon in Downtown Burlington. There were 2 finalists. Myles and Sam. These 2 had been rivals since kindergarten and were there to battle it off. The events were as followed: Swimming, Running and Biking. So at 11 in the morning, they started their race. At the beginning, the officials had asked them if they wanted to do the trialization at the same time or separately. They both picked separately. They coin tossed to see who goes first. Myles had won so he went first.
The official said the countdown 3….2….1….. GO!! and Myles had started running. He Swam at a steady pace. Since swimming was the hardest, it took him the longest time to do it out of the 3 events. It took him an hour and half to finish the swimming. Then he had to change and get his running shoes on and run to the running field. The changing and the travel to the running field counted as his time. It took him half an hour to do all this. After that he started running as fast as he could. It took him 45 minutes to run 20km. The Biking path was right at the end of the running path so he didn’t need to worry about anything. But when he had reached bike, he tried riding it but the tires were flat and the chain was broken. This had made him really mad. It had taken the crew another half an hour to fix it. This was also part of his overall time. So he biked as fast as he could to make up for his time and he finally reached the finish line after traveling 65 kilometers for 3 and a half hours.
It was Sam’s turn. But his course was a little bit different. He had to swim first, then run and then bike. For some people it could be considered harder and for others easier. So Sam got ready in the lake where the trialathon started. The official yelled 3…2….1….. GO! And Sam started swimming his heart out. He had to swim 25 kilometers. After 1:15 minutes, he finally reached the finish line. But when he jumped out of the lake his face and leg was blood red. It seems he overdid it and he had to relax and take a break. So after 1 hour he finally got the courage to get up and continue. He was still injured. Now he had to run. Surprisingly he did really well. He ran 20km in just 15 minutes! But at the end the injured leg was coming back and he had to relax again. The next even shouldn’t be that hard since he was an expert biker. So after 15 minutes, he got up and started biking. But he didn’t feel good and finally finished biking 20 kilometers in an hour. He was exhausted and taken to the hospital for the doctor to check his leg.
So Final winner was Myles and he took the Burlington Trophy with him!
