Chapter four : Metamorphosis.

The Unicorns took two years to make the journey from Afghanistan to Mongolia, they killed and ate whatever they chose, whether that be animal or human and the rumours of their return spread throughout the World and came to be heard by Temujen, who was getting a name for himself making raids against his neighbouring tribes.

The Unicorns are greeted with howls of delight by the Turko-Mongolese people and are brought food, water and gifts of golden jewellery by Temujen’s armies.  The Unicorns are led directly to Temujen, who talks telepathically to the leading Unicorn, before mounting him an exclaiming “I am Genghis Khan and these are the mightiest warriors on the planet, and all who follow us shall rejoice in battles fought and won.”

The second Unicorn stood beside them and ignored all of Khan’s warriors and leaders, until a boy arrived, Khan’s son Ogodei, and links with the second Unicorn.  He mounts the Unicorn next to his Father and orders start to flow from Genghis as he controls his forces.

The next decade is a time of utter destruction, as the Mongols make war on all around them, making in-roads into the Jin Empire, including the taking of Xi Xia and Ningxia.  Even when Genghis dies in August 1227, his son continues the fight until the whole of Jin is conquered.  The two Unicorns stood by Ogodei until 1234 when they take their leave as Ogodei chooses to pass on the mantle of war to Genghis’ youngest son.

The Unicorns are weakening and head back to their Afghan caves and sleep, they are feeling the constant battles and whilst they are still immortal and uninjured, they feel their time on Earth is coming to an end.  They sleep for over 200 years.

They leave their cave on a cold February morning in 1456, sniff the air and sense mayhem in Transylvania.  They can taste the evil in the air and head towards a new fugitive leader, Vlad the Impaler.  They are greeted with fear and hatred, the Transylvanian legends of the horned devils killing their people under both the Roman and Hunnic Empires was still rich in their folk lore and the Unicorns fight the way to Vlad.

Vlad has read the legends of the indestructible horned horses and immediately kneels before them, the Unicorns instantly create the psychic link to Vlad’s inner soul, which is black and twisted and evil.  They know that they have found the correct human to carry their virus throughout the planet.  They sense the 19 evilest warriors in Vlad’s army and draw them forwards, so a line of men stand before the Unicorns, in line with their leader Vlad.

The lead Unicorn’s eyes rage with fury and fire and he slices the chests of all 20 men, opening skin wounds and making them bleed, before turning to his accomplice and slicing through the second Unicorns throat with his bladed horn, arterial blood slewed through the air, splashing each of the 20 warriors, who screamed with the burning as the Unicorn and Human blood merged and the Unicorn blood forced its way into their bodies.

The second Unicorns neck immediately began to heal and the blood faded from his white body, even as the screams of the men continued the Unicorns knew that they had achieved their plan for Earth and mighty wings erupted from their backs – like angels.  They looked once more upon the screaming men, writhing on the floor – sent instructions through to Vlad’s agonised evil mind and then took flight.  They headed straight through the atmosphere and into space, setting their course for the next habited planet so that their eternal mission of hate could continue.
