Chapter one : Genesis.

65 Million Years ago, a gigantic asteroid spelled disaster for the long term inhabitants of the Earth – the dinosaurs were mostly wiped out in months of turmoil as tsunami ran havoc, acid rain fell, dust clouds blocked the suns energy – dropping temperatures and killing off life on a planetary scale.

Those that survived were mostly the smaller, more easily insulated creatures that needed less to live on and survive.  Over millions of years these creatures adapted, evolved and became the animals, mammals, birds, reptiles and creatures that we now know.

In the centre of the meteor, protected by a sack of frozen fluids, two life forms lived in deep hibernation.  They waited for their new home to develop sufficiently before forcing their way through the amniotic sacks using their razor sharp horns, their bright red eyes glowed in the white faces and flowing golden mane.  Steam snorted from their noses as they became used to the high oxygen levels in their New Mexico cavern home.  They spoke to each other and as their mouths opened the teeth were more like a carnivore than the horses which they would be compared to.

True Human beings were still to appear in their full glory, it would be more than 50,000 years before homo sapians would appear in continental Africa and the Unicorns (as they were to be called) enjoyed running freely around the globe, killing and eating any animal that they chose.  They found that they could mate with the Earth horses but the offspring were, whilst more aggressive than their human parent, nothing like the unicorns, they held no horns, their teeth were herbivorous and were generally jet black in front and leopard spotted back, and would become better known as the Appaloosas of now.  They were strong, fearless and chosen by all the armies of the human world to carry warriors, but held none of the immortality and brutality of their extra-terrestrial parents.

The two unicorns stayed together through the ages, covering the whole globe, temperature made no difference to them as they covered both Africa and the Poles, but on seeing the human race they finally found their soul mates – a creature as devoid of emotion and feeling as themselves, a being they could get to know……
