A story with good moral. I tried my best to translate the story, a bit tough for me, but I managed to and I’m satisfied with it, my friends.

Of course, to follow the wise saying is forever easier, but this story is just an example for us as advice. Whatever it is, just follow our heart.

Two Shaolin monks were on their way back to the temple after accomplishing a mission.  The journey to the temple will take about 2 and a half hour.  They were about to cross a small shallow river by removing their shoes, noticed a young and beautiful lady standing at the edge of the river.  Though the level of the water was not deep, she could not cross over, moreover she was quite ill and was about to faint.  Without hesitation, the first monk quickly caught hold of her and  carried her on his back.  The second monk was shocked as to him, being a monk, it was a great sin to be get close to a young lady, moreover, she was very beautiful, that will arouse gossips if someone happen to see it.  The second monk though unhappy about it, but he just kept quiet and followed the first monk behind.

Very quickly, both of them managed to cross the river.  The first monk put the lady down safely at the other side of the river, she was shy about it at first, but was too weak to feel anything later, however, she felt slightly better later and could walk on her own, she thank the first monk for the help and bid farewell to the two monks.

The two monks continued their journey back.  They walked quite a distance, from one river to another river, from one hill to another hill, up and down, down and up.  During the journey, both monks did not say anything about the lady.  The second monk was still very upset about it and he seemed very moody.  The first monk observed it, but remain silent.

Two hours had passed, they were still walking and almost reaching Shaolin Temple.  The second monk could not hold on any longer, he decided to confront the first monk about his “indecent” act.  He told him about his displeasure.  The first monk answered “you were unhappy about it since we started to cross that river with the lady?”  The second monk replied “yes, I wanted to say it just now, but I just could not say it, it was such an embarrassing thing to say, but I could not hold it any longer”.

The first monk added “Look at my hands, anything?”.  The second monk replied “nothing, why you ask?”.

“So, you see, I have put down that young lady for more than 2 hours ago, but why are you still holding on to that young lady till now?”

Moral of the story :

We should learn to put down our load instead of holding on to it.  Anything which make us upset or unhappy, we should not dwell on them, learn to put down our load, there’s no point to getting too upset about things which make us feel uneasy, awkward or uncomfortable, put down our load, and we will not make ourselves miserable.

Very true. Unresolved anger is a source of unhappiness and nothing else.
