Lizzie got upset when she sees her report card. She has a failing mark on Social Studies. She has no other choice but to show it to her father to sign.

Her dad said, “You are not studying hard, are you? I will hire a strict tutor to guide you in your studies. By the way, Lizzie, you are grounded for tonight.”

Lizzie hurried to call her special friend Willie to seek a comfort.

Willie said, “I told you to focus hard on Social Studies but you did not listen to me.”

Lizzie sniffed, “I wished I would be smart like you, Willie.”

Willie replied, “You are smart, Lizzie. You had just focus on your studies. That’s all.”

On the following day, when Lizzie went to school, the Ruiz brothers saw her. They learned from others that she failed the Social Studies so they mocked her. To avoid them, she quickly ran to the gate. Suddenly, she is bumped to an old lady by accident.

Lizzie said, “I am sorry. I did not mean to. It is just those guys.”

The old lady said, “It is ok. I think you are the person I am looking for.”

Lizzie puzzled,” I am? Why?”

The old lady took the the colorful candle from her dusty bag, and she gave it to Lizzie.

The old lady said, “Light this candle at the altar during midnight and make a wish. It will come true.”

That midnight, Lizzie followed the instructions from the old lady. She lighted the candle and made a wish.

Lizzie said, “I wish my life would be better.”

On the following day, Lizzie decided to stay home because she cannot go out with some of her friends to have fun at the mall. Her dad hired a strict tutor to guide her in her studies. So, she waited her tutor at the living room. When she got bored, she opened the T.V. turn the channel to the Quiz Show.

While listening to the questions given by the anchor man, she suddenly realized that she knows the answer. And, she is right.

Later on, the tutor arrived. She turned off the T.V. and they are headed to the study room. While the tutor is testing Lizzie’s I.Q., she was surprised because Lizzie knows exactly the Philippine History, Asian History, World History and Economics. It shows that Lizzie has been changed since the last time she visited her. Also, Lizzie was surprise about herself.

Lizzie said, “I don’t know. But it is hard to believe that I can remember every details from the History books I read from the past. “

The tutor said, “You are gifted Lizzie. And, you must use that gift and make you father proud.”

Lizzie said, “I know, I will sign up for the Quiz Show. If I win, my dad would be proud.”

That afternoon, she signed up for the Quiz Show. But, first she was given the a test to test her mental capability. And, Lizzie passed that test. One week after, she became the grand champion for the Quiz Show and she beat the ultimate champion.

Everybody in the school learned that Lizzie won the contest. And, she was voted as the Most Intelligent in the year book. Willie is also surprise by the sudden change of Lizzie. So, Willie asked her a question.

He said, ” Lizzie, is that tutor that your dad hired really tough?”

She said, “No, she is nice. Why did you ask?”

He said, “Before, I knew that you always failed in Social Studies. Now, you are voted as the Most Intelligent in our class year book. Why?”

Lizzie could not tell him the secret so she lied to him.

She said, “I did what you said. I am studying hard. That’s all.”

He said, “Really? Congratulations, my friend! You are the best.”

She mischievously smiled, ” Thanks, Willie. I owe it to you.”
