Choragos: Here’s the sentry.
Sentry: My King, I bring bad news.
Creon: What is it now?
Sentry: Polyneices has been buried.
(After a pause)
Creon: What?!?!
Sentry: I don’t know who did this but the body is covered with a thin layer of dust.
Choragos: It is the gods.
Creon: Stop that idiotic rabble about the gods.
(to the sentry) Bring me the man who did this treacherous deed.

Sentry: I swear it is. She buried him.
Creon: (to sentry) Leave you worthless servant.
(to Antigone) Did you hear my decree?
Antigone: Yes, how could I help but hear it?
Creon: You defy me child?
Antigone: it is not god’s law.
Choragos: Insolence!
Creon: She is too prideful.
Antigone: What more do you want than my death?
(Ismene comes in)
Creon: Are you too guilty Ismene?
Antigone: No, she is not.
Ismene: I’ll take the blame.
Antigone: No, you didn’t want any part of this.
Creon: Antigone and Ismene should be taken away.

Creon: Do not trouble me about that girl.
Haimon: I trust your judgement.
Creon: Good. Obedient children are the best.
Choragos: That is wise.
Haimon: Being boyishly honest with you, your stubbornness will torture us all.
Choragos: you should listen to him.
Creon: He is a child!
Haimon: I will kill myself if you kill her. Goodbye father.
Choragos: Youth these days are rash.
Creon: Ismene will go free and we will bury Antigone alive.

Chorus: You should have honor.
Antigone: I am like Niobe.
Chorus: You should have glory of both worlds.
Antigone: Just let me die.
Creon: Take her away!
Chorus: Antigone is not the first Greek bad things have happened to such as Danae and Dryas.
Scene 5
Creon: What do you want?
Teiresias: You have doomed all your people. Greece is cursed by the gods because of your stubbornness.
Creon: You have been bribed.
Teiresias: No, I have not and you shall lose all you love.
Creon: I am wrong. We must go free Antigone.
Paean
Choragos: All hail Dionysos.
Exodus
Messenger: I have bad news. Haimon is dead of suicide.
Choragos: We must not tell the Queen!
Eurydice: I already know. For grief and I know each other well.
Messenger: It is true my Queen, he is dead.
Choragos: This is not going well. And here comes King Creon.
Creon: I have murdered my son! Oh how the gods have wounded me.
Messenger: That is not the only bad news. Look at your house.
Creon: No!! I have been rash and foolish! I have killed my wife and son. Take me to my house.
