They say man is on top of the food chain? Well, tell these animals that.
Humans are on top of the food chain, master of all creatures high and low, or so we are led to believe. But sometimes, men tire of being men and animals tire of being animals. So they decide to switch places, and in the process, produce levels of bizarreness enough to raise eyebrows and involve authorities. Stories like:
1. Fox Shoots Man
Foxes are not protected in Belarus, a country in Eastern Europe because they have rabies, and over time, hunting them became one of the most popular past-time for most people there. The foxes are naturally not very happy about this arrangement and shook their fists in the air whenever humans high-fived each other in delight upon shooting one of them.
One day, they got a dose of revenge as an unnamed man went for the kill after he shot one of the foxes. The hunter intended to strike the fox with the butt of his rifle when the animal resisted and “accidentally” pulled the trigger with its paw, hitting the hunter in the leg.
After the incident, the farmer was taken to the hospital for treatment and the fox escaped back into the wilderness, probably engaging in friendly banter with its fox-mates.
2. Man Bites Dog
Officer Scott Bloom was patrolling the streets of West Haven with his K-9 dog companion Onyx (a badass name, by the way) when a man started walking towards him shouting something about “needing dust” – referring to the illegal drug PCP.
The man, Roderick Lewis, then reached into his waistband. Thinking that Lewis might be pulling a weapon, Bloom grabbed both hands and both men struggled with each other. Suddenly Lewis’ hand got free and he started punching the police officer in the face.
This is when Onyx jumped to his partner’s rescue by attacking his assailant. Lewis, apparently undaunted that a dog was attacking him, decided that the wisest course of action was to strike in a way that the dog didn’t expect: by biting it back. He bit the dog so hard and didn’t let go that he had to be pried away from the dog who was yelping in pain by that point.
Lewis was charged with assaulting a police officer and cruelty to animals.
3. Puppy Shoots Man
Science agrees with the popular sentiment that puppies are adorable. However, when Jerry Allen Bradford found himself with too many of them, he realized the adorableness of his puppies were too much to handle. So he did the only reasonable thing to do: get rid of some of them by putting a bullet to the unlucky ones’ heads.
According to the story, the man had already sent his third puppy to doggie heaven when the fourth decided that he’s not going to take a bullet lying down. The clever puppy inched his way towards Bradford and put his paw on the trigger, putting a bullet through Bradford’s wrist, prompting awkward explanations to the cops afterwards.
He was charged with animal cruelty.
