This is a description of three minor characters who played a big part in the structure of the story within the story To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper Lee.

Boo Radley or Arthur Radley’s true personality is finally shown at the end of the book. At first all that we know about Arthur is that he stabbed his father in the leg with a pair of scissors(pg 11- Scout-“Boo drove the scissors into his parent’s leg”) watched Miss Stephanie well she was sleeping, has trouble with women and is rarely seen outside of his house. Jem and Scout are curious and try to get Arthur to come outside so they could meet him, but he doesn’t. Instead Arthur leaves treats in a hole in a tree outside on his front lawn. When Miss Maudie’s house caught on fire Arthur Radley saw Scout and wrapped her in a blanket to keep her warm, she had no idea who had wrapped her in the blanket until someone later told her it was Arthur. Near the end of the story we finally see Arthur’s true colors. Arthur saves Jem from Bob Ewell and carries him home. Scout goes home and finally meets Arthur and walks him home.

These characters lead the way to a great ending. Nathan created the interest into who Arthur Radley was and why he was so lonely. Miss Maudie helps Scout with her questions since Scout lost her mother; Miss Maudie helps answer her questions about Arthur Radley and why he has trouble with girls. Then last but not least Arthur Radley who is the most mysterious character throughout the story. We find out he is really a kind and gentle person who just was misunderstood and in the end saves Jem. Each one had a part in the lives of the main characters and in the end effected how the story turned out even though there part may have been small they all played a part in the main plot.

I liked it….it made me understand more about the situations back in the early 1900\’s and as an African American female…..i can almost feel the tension within he case of Tom and the Ewells. This book has really made me understand the basic thankfulness that we as people have in the world today to be able to communicate with each other without having to much dramatic interests.

i think in this article Nathan radley has been slightly misunderstood. the book does not show him as a character who hates everybody. he simply keeps to himself like the way he was brought up by his father. he only shoots at jem because he thought a burgler was in his yard, he wasnt trying to hurt jem. always nathan always said hello to jem and scout when they greeted him. and he even greets aunt alexandra when she comes.
