The fire from To Kill A Mockingbird, from Miss Maudie’s perspective. See what it’s was like from her point of view.
It all started on a cold night. I started a fire to keep the house warm for the night. I made myself a cup of coffee. Then, I changed into my night time clothing.
After I finished listening to my radio program, I went to my room to retire for the night. I pulled my sheets over me as I closed my eyes. I dozed off, and the next thing I knew, I woke up in a flurry of smoke. I quickly leaped out of bed and sprinted to the door. I knocked on the Finch’s door.
Atticus quickly came to the door. He looked and instantly saw what was going on. We wet on to alert the other neighbors. Within an hour, the sirens were ringing and the firemen were hard at work putting out the fire. Men from the community were helping to remove all the furniture. I was feeling very depressed about the whole thing and seeing all the men work reminded me of my husband and how he was so brave.
He probably would have been the first one in there and the last one out. The fire was contained to my house only, and no other houses were damaged.
