A touching short story that will make you wonder and cry.

She closed the bathroom door and opened the shower. Waters sprinkled down her shiny black hair, dripped slowly to wet her night gown. I giggled to myself, and then back to a straight face.

“She’s loosing herself.” I thought.

Eight o’clock in the morning,

“Nice jacket, Haile!” Melissa complimented.

“Yeah thanks, its Debenhams.” She said with a laugh.

Melissa was silent for quite a while and continued,

“You know, I always adored your fashion sense—and your strength.” She flicked Haile’s black hair, “see ya at lunch, I got some files to show boss.”

She sat on her office chair, looking at the cubicle walls, and once in a while, I see her eyes. Purely black, a dark marble, and it drowns me.

“Hey!” Alen barged in.

“Hey, Alen.” Haile said as she looked up.

Alen is one of her colleagues, a hilarious colleague. His energy is so high and he is just a good friend of Haile.

“Mind joining me for lunch?”

“Melissa will be counting on me, I’m sorry.” She said with a smile.

“Then I’ll go with you guys!” he said.

“Sure, you’re always welcome. You know that. And I guess I’ll be needing a clown today.”

“You always do need one.” He replied and Haile smiled back.

Melissa was back from the conference and placed her files on the desk. She saw Alen and Haile chatting with tons of files beside them.

“You’re so courageous! I can’t believe you still dare to prattle with all those work?” Melissa shouted. Then her lips transformed into a smile, “we better have lunch.”

Alen stood up immediately, “come Haile! Come with us now!—oops, I’m sorry. I think you should be the one telling me that.”

He laughed at himself and Haile fixed her hair and stood up.

She laughed too and said, “Let’s go where?”

Melissa shrugged, “Maybe to the caf.”

“All aboard!” Alen agreed, and so do Haile.

She followed them. She always stayed behind. They found a place, four chairs and a table. Alen sat beside Haile, and Melissa in front of her. They bought their food. Both Haile and Melissa had lasagna and bacon and juice. And Alen had chicken wings, barbeque, spaghetti and rice.
