Continuation of the travels of Ted and Joe on the fleamarket circut in California.

In our travels around the Golden State (California) we leaned many things, about life and how to survive on the road. We ate truck stop food like the truckers do, and survived.  We even ate  flea market  food and  never ever got a belly  ache, Ted’s secret to that was  that  he always ate food  with a lot  of  chili or  pepper sauce  on it, the  chili killed anything  that had  thoughts  of  lingering  on his food. Me,  I can’t  stand  the hot stuff so  I had  to be  a little  more picky, like I never ate ahot dog, and  only ate chicken  if  I saw  it  coming  out of  the  cooker.

There are also certain food booths that travel the circuit where you don’t want to eat, one was a mid eastern guy we called the Iotolla. Now  that  place  was  dirty, he  had  food  all over  the floor and flies  everywhere how   he ever passed  the  health  inspection  I will never know.

We had a good time traveling and made a little money, at least we survived. And  learned  a new  way of   life, but  Ted  migrated out  to California from Texas  years  ago and  he  was used  to hardships  in Texas. I had been through some tough times in Idaho too and was not new at the survival game.

One time in Tulare California we met  an old  Mexican guy that had  a different  twist  on  life and  living, at  the time  he  was sixty-five or seventy, at the time  he  had  a very  young  wife , at least  we  thought so, she  was  19 and  pregnant.  His idea  was to go get a young  one  in Mexico bring  her to California, get her  preggy and then get her  on the  California  Welfare System and  let  the  gringos  support  her and  the kid. Then he went back to Mexico to get another one, so every few months he had a new young wife.

When it got to be  the  rainy season  we had  to stop traveling  to outside  shows,  with the  wind blowing an  rain it  hard  to  keep  things  dry. The people were reluctant to come out if it looked like rain.

So we did inside shows, the rent was higher and we did not make as much.
