Tree Leapers

Danny and Mercedes had just left their engagement party; today they announce to everyone that they were getting married. To some it came as a surprise, to others, they had no idea that they to was even dating, they kept it so quite over the past year. Danny‘s father strike man, High class Lawyer that had plans for his son to marry a good Catholic woman, but Danny had his heart on marry a true blooded Black American, Baptist woman.  Mercedes Had her heart set on marring the man of her dreams, and Danny was every thing that she wanted. He too was in a high paying business as well; he and his family would fit in perfect with Mercedes life style. They knew it was time to tell their friends, family, and co-workers. Mercedes had been planning the get together for a month at Red Lobster.  She speared no expense. Everything had to be just right no matter how much it would cost her. That night at dinner things went really well. Both side of the families’ embrace them both, welcome each into their new families, and gave their blessings and best wishes. Mercedes Mother was not feeling that well that evening of the party, even though it was showing all over her face she still had to be there for the big news. Her father was there mainly because he wanted to see whom the lucky person.  To see whom he was that would be the one who marries his daughter, and if he would be able to care for her the way she wanted, and needs to be have cared for. The party was on; everyone and every body from the big league from his father law firm, to her father’s colleagues Doctors.  Right down to Mercedes and Danny’s friends came. They ate, drunk, dance and sing into the late hours of until the restaurant had to tell them that they was closing.

On Devil Back Bone road, a long, dark, and narrow road, Danny was driving his Midnight Black Mercedes that he brought because it was the name of his girl, Mercedes was feeling good, and she was even more happy being  that things went well, and she  had just a little too much to drink. Danny too was feeling the same.
