The 19th of October marks 20 years since my mum passed away. Life has never been the same but I know that she is still always with me especially at the times I need her most.

My mum and dad (Kazimierz), were married on the 30/01/1940, the day before being deported to Germany to forced labor camps, where they spent the next five years as POW’s. Then another five years in the American Sector before migrating to Australia.
When my mum died, my whole world turned upside down. The precious memories of my mum are always vivid and will forever be etched in my heart, mind and soul.
I wrote this poem the night before we laid this beautiful lady to rest and read it as part of the eulogy.
TRIBUTE TO A DEWDROP.
God took a little dewdrop that glistened in the sun,
And fashioned it into a prescious jewell
That we called Mum.
As He set her upon this earth
He told her of all that she would endure;
And He added with a loving smile -
“In all things serve Me well,
For you belong to me my child”.
And now He has called her home,
Her beautiful soul carried on Angel’s Wings
To sing everlasting praises
To Christ our Glorious King.
My dear friends and family
As I close the final chapter of her life,
I have but one more thing to say -
Next time you see a dewdrop dancing in the sun
Look very, very closely -
For there you will see the face of your Mum.
