Sometimes love just isn’t what it seems to be, and it can really screw you over.

“Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you”

“UUUGGGGHHHH,” Tom thought as he reached for his iPod Touch. The alarm continued with Celine Dion’s voice. As he finally placed his hands on his iPod, he pried his eyes open, Fallon. Fallon, the name he would wake up to everyday seeing, because he had set it as his personal “wake up” message. His usual morning routines proceeded soon after. As he left for the bus stop, he felt on step closer to the love of his life. He didn’t speak much while waiting for the bus.

“Hey Tom, did you date Fallon?” asked Brianna, girl at his bus stop.

“Yes,” said Tom, glumly.

“Well I told my sister, Cassie about it and she was like BLEGH!” replied Brianna, smiling.

“To me or to Fallon?” questioned Tom.

“To Fallon!” said Brianna laughing.

When the bus finally arrived he plopped himself onto the seat he always sat at in the morning. He glanced over his shoulder, Mary-Anne stared back, tired.

“I feel so suck today,” groaned Tom, “just really suck.”

“Is this about Fallon?” questioned Mary-Anne. Tom looked around unsure of what to say. He wished he could pour his heart and soul out, he wished everything would be right again. “Right” what a funny word Tom thought, yet no matter how funny, he could never bring himself to laugh. A few minutes later, the bus screeched to a stop in front of a couple houses. A long line of students got onto the bus, among them, Tom’s friend, Brad.

“So Tom, do you still like Fallon?” asked Brad.

Tom looked back and muttered a simple answer “Yes.”

“Wow Tom, wow, you do everything for her, and what does she give back? Nothing, nothing at all, no sympathy, no hope, she shows no interest in you,” replied Brad.

“At least there’s still hope, she even said so herself,” replied Tom, determined not to give in.

“Hope? Hope? Tom she’s just saying that to make you feel good,” said Brad, “you even said so yourself, all the love —”

” — at this age is just fake teenager love,” said Tom, finishing the sentence for him.

“Exactly,” said Brad, “so just suck it up, and get over her!”

Their conversation lasted until the bus reached the school. After Tom got off the bus, he headed over to where his friends were, avoiding Fallon in the process. When he got there, the morning resumed as normal, until that is, when George showed up. George was also one of Tom’s friends, a good one in fact. However, George was disappointed in Tom for liking Fallon. He wasn’t jealous or envious of Tom; he just felt that it didn’t fit. George walked up to Tom and kicked snowed on him.

“What was that for?” asked Tom.

“That’s for liking Fallon!” shouted George, while jabbing Tom in the chest at the same time.

“Why are you shouting at me for liking Fallon?” asked Tom, curious what George would say next.

“She’s just a bad person for you, and she’s mean to everyone,” said George.

“Yo Tom, you know your girlfriend, she’s such an ugh,” said Cody in a plain tone.

“What? How?” asked Tom, unsure what could have caused Cody to say that.

“I don’t know, she’s just PM-Sing,” replied Cody.

“What does PMS mean?” whispered Tom to Brad.

“I dunno probably something to do with her period,” replied George.

A long constant ringing startled Tom, it was the bell. As Tom made his way towards his classroom, he bumped in Fallon; they tried their best to avoid eye contact. He cursed to himself for not saying something. The usual morning routine continued, but that nagging thought of Fallon stayed with him. It was nearing Christmas Break soothe day didn’t go as usual, there was more fun times. Kids would sit by friends, watch movies, and chat. During the movies, Tom thought of the only place to sit, beside Fallon. As Tom set his chair down beside Fallon, Fallon looked away with dark, cloudy eyes. On the other side of Fallon Mary-Anne gestured towards Fallon.

“No, that’s OK, Fallon hates me,” stated Tom.

Mary-Anne rolled her eyes and look away.

“Do you hate me Fallon?” asked Tom.

Fallon just continued to stare forward. In a louder voice Tom said, “Do you hate me Fallon?”

Without even looking back Fallon said, “No, I just find you annoying.”

Tom sagged into his chair, he knew he couldn’t do anything, he’d let time take it’s course.
