Just something I wrote!

“I don’t want our secret to have this kind of exposure.” The line goes dead.
I never knew him. All I knew was that he was the star varsity basketball player, and I was just your average girl. It never occurred to me that everything would end like this, but it did. It all started on the first day of my freshman year, with Brandon as a junior. I saw the twinkle in his sparkling blue eyes, the beautiful shade of golden brown hair that made my heart melt. His locker was on the opposite side of mine, all I had to do was turn around.. and he was there. He was there.. but his girlfriend Bailey was too. Bailey and I went way back, or well. We used to. People used to call us the Siamese twins, we were always within 3 feet away from each other. Then one day, we just grew up. Guys started liking her, and competition arose, especially since we were both after the same guy. Brandon asked me to all the high school dances, asked me to be his own personal cheerleader at all of the basketball games, and Bailey got a tad.. well a bit more than a tad. Extreme jealous. I went to the bathroom during half time at Brandon’s first big game. To my surprise, as I walked back in the gym I found Brandon and Bailey behind the bleachers.. doing something I’d rather not bring up again. My heart had been ripped and torn to pieces. Ever since that dreadful night, I try not to talk to either of them. I was forgotten, out of existence. It was like he regret everything about me, about us, ever standing by my side. A few weeks ago, he called. He asked for forgiveness. He was sorry. He said he loved me. “Our love is like a song, you can’t forget it.” Those ten words were the start of our secret relationship.

“I don’t want our secret to have this kind of exposure.” I immediately hung up.
I knew her. Well, I didn’t really know her, but something inside of me was saying that I did know her. Maybe we just had a connection. A connection that I ruined. She was amazing. Her personality helped me become a better person. Yeah sure, I got beat up a lot for dating a girl who didn’t exactly have the features of a model, but do you think I gave a crap? No. I loved her. Correction: I love her. I still do. It was halftime, and she said she had to pop a squat. Bailey, her so called “best friend”… man girls. They sure do some mean stuff. Anyways, Bailey.. well she said she had to show me something behind the bleachers. I really had no idea what she was going to show me. I thought like.. an old basketball or something. Instead of showing me anything, she pinned me to the wall, and well.. need I go on? Anyone coming out of the bathroom had a direct view of us. Then Chloe saw. And she was devastated.
People were so happy. Finally I let go of the piece of “trash” and went for the gorgeous girl that everyone wanted, and apparently I deserved her. But to me, I’d rather date the girl who has the beautiful inside, not the one who tries too hard to be beautiful on the outside.
As I was looking for Chloe’s familiar face in the crowded halls, I saw the bright blonde hair of Bailey. Her face was plastered in makeup, as usual, but some people still think she is beautiful because of that? I guess it’s all in your opinion. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. With Bailey, all you can see on the outside is her lustrous hair, her perfect skin, her bright eyes, and her bangin’ body. On the inside, her extremely fake personality, and her true colors start to show. But I wish there was a way for her me to expose Bailey’s true self, and how Chloe is more worthy of my time.

Chemistry… Definitely not my favorite class. Especially because I’m with “her”… Bailey.
“Today class, we are doing a lab! Everyone excited?” Mr. Sanford said, with so much pleasure you would think that he had just one the lottery.
The classroom was silent.
“Okay well, anyways. It’s an EXPLOSIVE lab! You have to be careful, if you don’t follow the instructions you could cause the materials to explode, and that would not be fun.” He added, with just as much excitement, if not more.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Bailey slide onto her elbows listening intently, and her lips evolved into a devilish smile.
“You will be given the chlorate of potash, tannic acid, glycerine, and water. You HAVE to dissolve the tannic acid first in the glycerine, and dissolve the chlorate of potash in the water, then you mix them together and record your observations and results. You DO NOT mix the tannic acid, chlorate of potash, and glycerine together, or else an explosion will occur. Your lab grade is in a direct proportion with following the directions, so I hope you all were paying close attention. With that being said, go find a partner, and begin your lab.” Mr. Sanford announced, in a more serious tone.
“ Hey Chlo, want to be partners?” Bailey happily stated.
Chlo? Partners? I haven’t spoken to her since the game.. I try not to look at her.. and what is this now? Pick your ex best friend, give her a nickname, and ask to be partners? Maybe she’s trying to apologize… yeah an apology.
“Okay, sounds like fun! So what are we doing in this lab?” I said, with Mr. Sanford’s excitement rubbing off on me.
Bailey
“We just mix the tannic acid, the chlorate of potash, and the glycerine together, then we record the results.” I said, trying not to expose my secret of blowing her up.
“Are you sure….?” Chloe replied. “I thought we were supposed to dissolve the tan-“
I cut her off. “ No no noo! We just mix them all together. Would you like to do the honors? I have to go to the bathroom anyways.” I quickly said, a bit too nervously. She’s smart, but I don’t think she’s smart enough to figure this one out. As I was walking out of the classroom door, Mr. Sanford saw me from the corner of his eye. Although he didn’t ask where I was going, I believe he managed to steal a few bits of the conversation Chloe and I had.. so he knows my plan. CRAP.

Tannic Acid. Check. Chlorate of potash. Check. Glycerine. Check. Mix them all together and… BOOM! Green… green. Everywhere I turn I see green. Everyone is staring dead at me, some with smirks on their face. Where is Bailey? Bathroom.. right “Ms. Walker, can I see you outside of class?” Mr. Sanford abruptly stated. I slowly rose from my seat, and as soon as the door shut, I could hear the roaring laughter coming from my classmates in the room. My thoughts were again interrupted by Mr. Sanford. “What in the world has gotten into you? You are one of my best students, and you make the stupidest mistake of not dissolving the powders in the liquids before mixing them together! What has that Bailey done to you? It’s as if you’ve been hypnotized..” I could hear his booming voice, but I wasn’t paying attention. I was focused on the 6 foot 3 boy in front of me. Brandon.
Brandon
I remember everyone shouting to me… if I had heard what happened. What happened to what? To who? But now I understand, everything makes sense. Chloe is green. Chloe exploded, and now she’s green. How she exploded I don’t exactly know, but I guess I’ll find out soon enough. “Hey Chloe….. why are you green……?” I asked, with serious concern, unlike all of the other idiots in this school who have been laughing at her.
“Oh, my lab.. in chemistry… Bailey left and told me what to do.. and it exploded…and I guess it made me green..” Chloe shyly whispered.
I was in shock. I didn’t know what to say. It may not seem like a big deal, but Bailey isn’t your nicest girl. Who knows what else she could have planned.
I don’t want to hurt Chloe by awkwardly staring at her greenness…but she doesn’t seem to mind. But she will mind when Bailey comes jumping on my back after she’s come back from wherever she was…
“BOO! Guess who?” Bailey’s familiar voice echoed across the hall. This time, I’m not going to play along. I love Chloe, and I can’t show her that Bailey and I have a somewhat flourishing relationship when we have a relationship of our own.
Bailey
Phase 1: ½ complete. Her skin tone went from pale peach to a tree green. My first step is to embarrass her, then I embarrass myself, but leaving her the blame. My second step is to continue to expose her as the mean girl, and continue to cause her emotional pain, because only she and I will know the truth, although I will be acting like I don’t, of course. My third step is to get her few friends on my side, and score the boy, which should be easy for a girl like me, right?
Chloe
“Wrong.” Brandon softly said over the phone. “I love you more.” Even though I highly doubt that he loves me more, I let him win this time. I’m still feeling iffy about the whole Bailey in chemistry thing. It is 99.9% my fault, because I knew what to do, I just listened to Bailey for some reason, then again, Bailey knew what to do as well. With all of my evidence adding up… her leaving to go the bathroom right before I mix all of the substances together, her denying to my suggestion of dissolving everything in the liquids… I would have to come to a conclusion that she had previously planned this entire act of turning me green. Plus the fact that I know she hates me, and that she is hinting on my secret relationship with Brandon… more embarrassing scenes like this are to come..
to be continued….
