An alien force threatens earth and six youths are on the front line whether they want to or not.

Sam read the manual. “Well, like all telescopes, we look in here,” points to the eyepiece, “and we see stuff; stars, planets, black holes, kinda like your sister, Falkier.”

“Let me try. Hey Falkier, I see Uranus.”

“L-o-l, very funny. Move over.”

“Got it working?” Shelly, Rebecca, and Lauren just came outside.

“See for your self.” Shelly went up to the eyepiece and looked through the telescope.

“Wow, I see Mars and Saturn, and Jupiter.” Falkier looked up to the sky and asked

“Sam, what day it is?”

“Wednesday.”

“I meant the date.”

“June 14.”

“What is the next day the planets align?”

“Uuh, tonight. Cool.”

“I see them all.” Shelly was jumping with joy.

“Wow, lunar eclipse, aligned planets, anything else to have a seance? Maybe conjure some departed spirits?”

Shelly appeared out of Falkier’ truck with a blanket over her shoulders and a red bandana over her head tied in the back.

“Gather round, oh ye and speak with those who have departed into the after-life. Take heed and beware, for should you anger the spirits, you will face the wrath of those not bound by the physical laws of this mortal earth!” she said in a hushed voice.

“Wait, this needs to be a proper seance. We need a fire and a crystal ball. Sam, you and Jason help me get some wood. Girls find something to use as a crystal ball.”

Rebecca and Lauren got up and went into the cabin to look, but Shelly had not moved.

“You gonna help us look?”

“I must stay here and balance myself, my chakra has been disturbed.”

“What?”

“I mean I ain’t looking. Hurt my ankle on the steps to the cabin. Watch out for the second step!” Shelly said in her normal voice, but it was too late; Rebecca stepped on the middle step and it fell in and she fell back into Lauren.

“I told you.” Shelly said in a sing-song manner.”

“Yeah, thanks.”

An hour, a hot fire, and several hotdogs later the six sat in a circle around the fire, the guys had found three sturdy logs and drug them back to the cabin. They had all eaten their fill of franks and were roasting marshmallows on the open fire. An owl hooted in the distance and Jason threw another piece of wood on the fire.
