This is Tweety he is a 7 year old white wing tip turtle dove.  This sweet turtle dove is the most loving dove any one could ever wish for and this is where his story starts…  In  the year 2000 Tweety fell out of his nest, unbelievable he survived his fall but this would have a slight twist as our “German Shepard-Husky mixed” dog was going to eat him for lunch.  With all the luck in “Tweety’s” corner one of my sons noticed the dog had something alive in his mouth and ran to get  the little dove help. With tears rolling over my sons face he begged me to take care of this little dove. Poor “Tweety” nearly out of his egg with just a  few pin feathers was pretty hurt. One broken wing and numerous lacerations to his little body.
No more mother dove to feed him and all humans surrounding his faith. After nodding my head I told my son”Okay I will see what I can do, but I can not promise he will survive”. My idea was to feed him on an every few hour basis with a mix of cereal and water, oh yes even throughout the night I did this. Just making sure this little baby dove would not die from hunger. As strange as this may sound a few weeks later”Tweety” was showing that he had adopted me to be his mother opening his beak to be fed and he was just like a baby asking or demanding his attention.  He started growing and following me around. All I had to do is call him and he would land on my shoulder. We are now 7 years into raising “Tweety” and he is still calling me by softly cooing. Normally this kind of bird would not become a pet, however he went through so much and with him adopting us as his family who would we have been to turn him away? Not too long ago “Tweety” needed to have his beak clipped and due to the softness of his beak the veterinarian cut too much off. He nearly died, yet again luck was in his corner I took him back to the vet and he was placed on oxygen. This took him out of distress and he is once again a happy, healthy white wing tip turtle dove.
