Two Cats chasing a Dormouse that jumped into bed with Grandma at the cottage hilarious.
In self defense I tried to yank the covers off the bed as cat number one joined the dormouse somewhere under the covers in the middle of the bed. But the body of Cat no. 2 landed on top of the quilt at that precise moment preventing me from accomplishing this so that two cats, one little dormouse and grandma were an indistinguishable undulating mass in the dark. A heaving mound of snarling cats, squeaking mouse and squawking grandma, not to mention flapping quilts, blankets and pillows filling the room with a great hullabaloo of commotion!
While Cat number one was burrowing under the covers, Cat number two was leaping around on top of the bed pouncing at the heaving quilts, sheets and pillows. Chaos and mayhem reigned in the dark. Bedclothes were strewn everywhere as I struggled to dodge Cats that seemed to be jumping all over the bed. Cat No. 2 (I could no longer tell which cat was which) by now was leaping on Cat number 1 who was valiantly chasing my feet every time I moved, mistaking them (I think) for some form of enemy, since that’s where mouse disappeared. I in turn was scrabbling and scrambling from one side of the bed to the other trying to get away from two cats, one dormouse and a mess of twisted bedclothes.
Meanwhile Dormouse made good its escape. I finally landed on the floor with a great thump totally confused and in great bewilderment. I glanced up to see Dormouse sitting on top of the headboard grinning at all the mischief it had created. Cat number two, still determined not to miss any fun pounced on cat number one just as I fell on the floor with all the bedclothes. And I, well I sat there on the floor heaving with laughter. What a riot that was I can tell you!
Meanwhile Dormouse made good its escape.
Like the Mystery Lady Detective Miss Marple, I had solved the mystery of why the two cats loved that room. Could it have been that mischievous dormouse created all the fun he had on purpose? Now who would believe a story like that?
