A little literary treasure known to few, Uncle Remus’ stories are the classic fables starred by Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Miss Meadows…

UNCLE REMUS

Some time ago, I found a tiny green book withing my library. Its name was “Stories from Uncle Remus”. I was at first curious about this little emerald bug, and I decided to check it out. Well, some three pages after I began I just couldn’t let it down. It took me about a week’s spare times to finish this gem.

So, what kind of a book is it? Well, it is a group of chronological (or so) fables about animals that live in a community like us humans. Brer Wolf and Brer Fox have a hard time trying to catch our cunning hero, Brer Rabbit, while he shows off to the girls at Miss Meadows’. They have many great adventures. Prepare yourself to discover the ”Will’o the Wisp”, Mr. Man, Brer Tarrypin, the Mud Turtle and the many pranks that the rabbit plays among the creatures. You’ll be surprised of the harships that Brer Fox has had to endure, and the seeming immortality of Brer Wolf, who dies in some adventures and appears in others afterwards.

Who the hell is Uncle Remus? No, he is not the author. Actually, the book is about a negro (Uncle R) that serves at Miss Sally’s and tells these stories to his little master, Sally’s kid. If this setting bores you already, don’t worry, you won’t be getting much about them, though you’ll surely come to respect Uncle Remus as I now do.

Anyway, this is a great book, one that you do not want to miss. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading, and most surely invite you to do so. I promise that you won’t regret it.
