Scene 13

Setting- Riverview High School Second Floor of the Cafeteria.

Characters-Rory, Scott, Nick, Adam, Bret, three jock guys, 500 students eating lunch, seven girls sitting at table.

Scene starts-

(Rory, Scott, Adam and Nick walking together on the second floor balcony, Scott pulls his hood up and walks nearest to the outside wall)

Adam- So your telling me that Your really not dead? (points his finger towards Scott)

Scott (giving him a sour look)- Yeah, I’m still dead yet I am talking to you….

Rory- Just shut up both of you.  ( she looks at Adam)  Look you cant give him any directions at all don’t even tell him to blink (she points at Nick, who stares blankly at her)  He will do anything you say.

(they sit down at a table, just behind pillar).

Adam-there is no way he will just do anything.  Those people at that what did ya call it?

Scott-the Theta Project.

Adam-yea them, they can’t just make people do what ever they want.

Rory-yeah they can, and they did, we are being serious.

Adam- okay so he will do anything I say?

Scott- yes! Anything, but don’t get any ideas.

Adam- oh I would never tell Nick go kill Bret Smith, or anything like that…. (Rory gives him a direct scowl).

Rory-we are being serious Adam don’t pull that kind of shit.  He really will do anything.  They completely drained him of all emotion, he doesn’t even have his own opinion. Watch this (she turns to Nick, grabbing his hand, he looks at her again blankly) Nick, how are you?

Nick- (tilts his head to the left)- who is Bret Smith? (turns towards Adam looking for an answer)

Adam-(pointing to a group four guys) the blon…(Rory interrupts, Nick without anyone noticing gets up and moves quickly towards the group of guys).

Rory-stop don’t tell him anything! (turn towards the seat nick was sitting in) Nick, oh shit!

(Scott, Rory, and Adam stare in Nick’s direction speechless)

Adam-He really isn’t going to do it is he ( turns towards Scott)

Scott- I didn’t think so, but I guess I was wrong (gets up and heads in Nick’s direction)

(Nick walks past a table and grabs a plastic lunch tray, shakes the food off, and heads directly for Bret)

first guy- hey Bret check this tough guy out. ( he points at Nick and laughs) ( laughing is joined by the two other guys and Bret)

Bret-(crossing his arms) who are you tray boy.

(Nick lifts the tray and slams it into Bret’s throat) (Bret begins choking)

Second guy- what the hell?  ( all three back up)

Scott- Nick! (dodges chairs as they fling out) ( people scramble to see what happened).

(Nick grabs the back of Bret’s head, smashes his head into the railing, and flips him over the railing) ( Bret’s body smashes into the table below)

seven girls at table-(in unison scream and jump back as Bret’s body hits their table).

Scott-Nick what the hell did you do? Oh my gosh what are we going to do? ( he grabs his shoulder and stares him the face).

Nick-I only did what I was told. ( he stares confused) did I not do it right?  Adam told me to kill Bret smith, so I did.

Scott-No no no! You did what you were told but thats what was wrong you can’t just kill people its not right, ( Rory cuts him off) (everyone is staring at them).

Rory-Scott we have to go. Now! (pulls on Scott’s arms) Nick you stay with me and don’t listen to anything Adam says.  You are only to listen to me and Scott. Understand? ( they move quickly threw the crowd) (no one stops them).

Nick-yes, I do.  Why are you so

 Scott-mad? Why do we yell its cause we have a damn soul, like normal people do. (he slams Nick up against the car).

Rory-(grabbing Scott by the arm) Stop it, stop!  Dammit he doesn’t know he did anything wrong!  Whats wrong with you?  What were you gonna do?  You gonna punch some sense into him.  Or are you just pissed and you think he just deserves it? (Scott lowers lets go of Nick) ( Rory is crying) He used to be just like you.

Scott- I’m sorry, I was just frustrated (he reaches out to hug her, she ducks under his arm and moves towards Nick, she grabs his arm).

Rory- You okay?? ( He looks at her confused) never mind, just get in the car.

(Scott, Rory, Nick and Adam all get into Rory’s car).
