Unfaithfulness leads to hell, either physically or mentally.

Scene 1

“Let’s go for Long’s wedding!” said Fong, while she was lying on the bed.

In anger, her husband, Heng replied, “No, no, I won’t go. He’s an unfaithful son. He’s got a rich wife and he didn’t invite us either for his wedding ceremony….,” he burst out his anger ran its full course.

“Please, please go for his wedding. I miss him so much,….” her conversation was stopped by her occasional cough.

Heng walked towards Fong, comforting her with a low tone, “Don’t say too much, my wife! See, you’re coughing seriously,” he sighed and raised his voice, “Long is unfaithful to us. He’s belong to rich, but we’re poor…Have you forgotten that last time he chased you out of his office….?” in anger, he uttered, “No, no, don’t go, I’d never have such unfaithful son!”

The bursts of anger hung over Heng for a moment before he strode away fuming. Thinking of Long’s unfaithful attitude towards them, it did incense him with blindness and madness, just as though he was about to punch Long to teach him a lesson.

The following morning, without Heng’s knowledge, she planned to see his son at his wedding ceremony. She took a cab to go there.

Scene 2

The wedding ceremony was grand with its majestic and dazzling decorations. More and more VIPs arrived at the scene. The guests who gathered here were all rich people. They had their bodies very branded clothes put on. Many luxurious cars were parked row by row at the parking lot.

“Hey, Long, where’s your parents? Will they come?” asked his father-in-law.

“Maybe, they’re on the way…,” he stopped, pretending to make a call using a mobile phone. He pleaded over the phone, “Ma, no matter how, please come, OK? The wedding ceremony will start soon!” He murmured a few words over the phone as though he was talking with his mother. In fact, it was nobody there. Instead, he made a blank call.

One of the persons who in-charge for the procedure of the wedding ceremony said, “We can’t wait any longer…The guests have all arrived, and they’re waiting impatiently…Why don’t we just have the ceremony started…?”

It is the first time I read Chan’s short story. Chan has made a remarkable adaption of a true touching story. We could get some important messages and lessons from Chan’s story. Beautifully written. Nicely told. Bravo Chan.
