“”That can’t be,” Billie sobbed. “ I didn’t even know he was in the Bahamas. We had this silly argument a few days ago and I was going to see him tonight and apologize.    Now I’ll never get a chance to tell him that I’m sorry.” 

          Detective Foley went into the Lee’s office where he was joined by Lee’s partner Drake, his son Terry and Patrina, the owner of Patrina’s Pub which was next-door to Oranges. He repeated the information about Lee being shot in the Bahamas

          “Lee and I were competitors,” said Patrina.  “We both wanted to open a club in the Bahamas.  That’s why he went down there without telling anyone.   He was trying to beat me out again.”        

           “Poor old Dad,” Terry said.  “I bet he was mugged and put up a fight so the mugger killed him. I’ve heard about that kind of thing happening in Freeport. I warned Dad to be careful when he traveled but he never listened to me.”

             “I demand a full investigation,” said Drake.  “Lee and I were partners.  We planned to open a branch of Oranges in the Bahamas.  This kind of thing can’t be allowed to happen to businessmen when they travel”.

             As Detective Foley continued talking to the four suspects he learned several things.   Lee was going to break his engagement to Billie, he was trying to force Patrina out of business so he could take over her pub, he refused to lend his son Terry money for his floundering internet business and he had accused Drake of embezzling money from Oranges.

            Later that night as Detective Foley was reviewing his notes he noticed an important fact, a fact that pointed directly to the murderer

                       SOLUTION to Vacations Are Murder

Detective Foley told everyone that Lee Adams was shot to death “in the Bahamas” and one person immediately said…”I’ve heard of that kind of thing happening in Freeport”.  The only way that person could have known Lee was in Freeport would have been if he followed Lee there and shot him.  The murderer is Terry, Lee Adams son.
