He had been terribly lonely, until a co-worker insisted on setting him up with a blind date.

Douglas had just started his  job at the  new automotive plant that had just recently opened. He was very excited about getting hired in at entry level this soon after their grand opening, and ribbon cutting ceremony. The opportunities were endless! He had been through a terrible divorce, and seldom even got to see his two small sons Jacob, and Jeremy. It had ended badly with his ex wife,Sandy, who detested him,and was dating an uptown attorney. It was about time something went right for him.He had been so terribly lonely, until a co worker kept insisting on setting him up with a blind date.

He didn’t really care who she dated ,as long as she wasn’t nagging at him!He really did miss his sons terribly though, and had tried to convince Sandy to let him be a part of their lives. After all,he was their father, but she simply would not.

A good friend of his,Keith kept trying to fix him up,but he always came up with some lame excuse not to go.He hadn’t dated since his divorce, nearly two years prior. He just didn’t know the first thing about dating, after all he had been married for over thirteen years. He had definitely been out of circulation for a while.Tomorrow was Valentine’s day,the day for sweethearts, and lovers alike.and here he was, alone again!

Keith had been telling him about this friend of his named Heather, how sweet and utterly charming she was,and how he thought they would really hit it off if Douglas would only agree to go meet her.He finally decided what the hell, why not?The least that could happen was that there would be no chemistry what so ever, and she would be horrible.Douglas had not had the best of luck on blind dates, and there were horror stories to tell there!

He glanced around the tiny coffee shop where he had finally agreed to meet her feeling as though all eyes were on him.He squirmed uncomfortably in his chair as he ran his fingers through his jet black hair.Douglas was a very handsome man although he did not think so.With a medium build,he was tall, had piercing blue eyes, and a beautiful smile that is when he actually smiled. He kept watching the door as customers came, and went. This is ridiculous he thought, and was getting up to leave when someone said,”Hello? You must be Douglas,My name is Heather, mind if I join you?”

He looked up naturally, his curiosity getting the best of him.The first thing he noticed about her was her long, blond wavy hair, and her big, warm brown eyes. She was very petite, but also curvy and attractive. She was not a monster at all!In fact she was an angel.

She joined him at the table, they ordered cake, and coffee,of course she had hot chocolate as she did not like coffee. They talked and laughed as though they had known each other all of their lives.the chemistry between them was undeniable. After leaving the coffee shop,Douglas asked her if he could walk her home since she only lived a couple of blocks away, and it was such a warm, beautiful night.

“Of course.”she replied, and they were off. They had definitely made a connection.Upon arriving at the apartment complex Heather invited Douglas in.They were together from that night on.They moved in together after many dates shared,a few short months later. Then Heather shocked all their friends and family when she announced that she was already pregnant.

A simple wedding ceremony followed quickly.Heather gave birth to twin girls,Elizabeth, and Courtney a mere seven months later.Douglas was so ecstatic!Boy,he sure owed Keith for the rest of his life!
