Looking out the window of my house, I could see the autumn leaves falling gently to the ground.  As I sat there, I thought about what I was doing at my house while I could be riding my bike, or at the mall right now.  Then I came to a conclusion, I had to spend some time with my family, and that was all there was to it.  My parents decided to go to IHOP for breakfast, and then we would go to the mall for a couple hours and finish the day by eating dinner at Dave and Busters.  As usual, I knew things weren’t going to go as plan, but I never would have that it would get this out of hand. 

            After my parents got ready, which usually took at least an hour, but there is a limit to how fashionable you can dress, but for them there wasn’t.  Unlike them, my little brother and I just put on some jeans and a shirt and went out the door.  We got into the car and my dad started driving with my brother and I in the back.  It was a quiet morning and there was eerie chill in the air that I couldn’t exactly explain.  Meanwhile, I was playing my PSP in the back while my little brother was jumping up and down, and my mom was reading a newspaper.  My dad seemed strangely quiet, maybe it was early in the morning and he didn’t feel like talking, but didn’t think about it too much. 

            I had just passed another level in my game, and I suddenly noticed that I beat the game; my little brother was asleep along with my mom.  My dad was still as quiet as before and still driving.  I started getting worried so I tapped my dad on the shoulder, no reaction; I tapped him again, this time much harder, still no reply.  So I decided to shake him, but still nothing, then I noticed something that made my spine tingle and my heart skip a beat, his eyes were closed.

            I tried to wake him up by pushing him harder, but it was no use, he wouldn’t wake up.  It was the same with my mm and my little brother, they were both asleep and however hard I tried, I couldn’t wake them up.  I started to think of the possibilities, maybe they were drugged, and maybe they didn’t get enough sleep last night.  But all of these reasons couldn’t be correct due to the fact that they weren’t waking up and they had nothing to eat or drink since yesterday.  I started to worry, so I looked out the window and realized how stupid I was for not realizing it before.  I was sweating, the sun was shining so brightly I had to shield my eyes, and I started to develop and unbearable thirst.  We were in the middle of the desert, miles and miles without land, a place where I only dreamed that I would ever end up in.
