The Gallaghers are probably some of the nicest people you’d ever meet. And Wendy Gallagher never saw any harm in picking up hitchhikers, especially if the were in need of big help. That is until they met Bryony. She was the devil in an angel’s body.

Chapter 1: The lost Vine

“John, John, pull over.” Forty-two years old Wendy Gallagher told her husband in their family van.

“What, what?” He asked, obviously not seeing what everyone else was.

“There’s a hot girl on the side of the road.” Claire Gallagher smirked.

“She looks dead.” Wendy stated as she opened the door.

“Wendy, this isn’t your job, you’re no detective. Get in this car.” John Gallagher said angrily.

“No, we may get a lot of money for this, you know.” Wendy said as she turned the girl over on her back.

“Dad, if she’s dead, can I have her as a toy?” Claire asked hopefully.

“Ahhhhhhhhh!” The girl screamed when she opened her eyes wide open, “Who are you?”

“I’m Wendy Gallagher, do you know that you’re on the side of the road?”

“Uh, yah!” The girl stood up and dusted off her pants.

“Hey, I’m Claire.” Claire got out of the car and held out her hand for the girl to shake.

“Ew, are you bi?” The girl asked.

“Dang, how’d you know?” Claire smacked her Juicy Fruit gum.

“I like to study characteristics.” The girl said proudly.

“Cool.” Claire smirked.

“No it’s not “cool”, it’s hard and unusual.” She frowned.

“You know what, you have a smart mouth, but you’re still hot.” Claire said as she climbed back into the van.

“Sorry about my daughter. What are you doing out here?” Wendy asked the young girl.

“I’ll tell you in the car!” The girl screamed as she walked to the other side and sat beside a young boy who was in the car.

“Hi.” She told the boy as he smiled shyly.

“Sorry, Miss, we don’t do hitchhikers.” John said as politely as he could.

“I’m not a hitchhiker, I’m a smart, abandoned girl, who needs a family.” She smiled, “Now drive on! Don’t mind me. I just need a place to live, food to eat, and friends. And you guys are perfect.”
