WE DID IT! *round of applause*

Now, we get a break. You have one week to relax, rush through all six of those summer reading books you haven’t bought yet, buy all your school supplies and new clothes, pick out your outfit for the first day of school, go see Harry Potter five more times, practice your music, go on vacation, sleep until three, and rub some aloe on that sock tan.

We’ve marched and played two whole songs now! Sort of. We need a little more practice, but guide, follow the leader, and try not to forget everything you’ve learned during the next week.

I don’t want any drama this year, so let’s try to remember that we are a band: that makes us a team. Family. Of course we all want to be the best we can be, but if we’re not there yet, getting upset won’t change anything. Let’s all try to be encouraging, and if we all do our part, we’ll do great.

Anyway, in honor of the fact that I will never have to go to band camp again, I am now going to write a goofy parody-song off the top of my head.

We marched for days and we played our show, yeah we did it. We did it! We did it! Hooray!

We ate ice cream and we didn’t fall out, yeah we did it. We did it! We did it! We did it!

We took out our poker chips to help us find our spots,

and we checked with our drill charts, to make sure we were right!
