This is a story about a weekend we had at the lake, it will be in parts, hope you take the time to read each part. I miss those days…

Yeah, we are here, we park, everyone jumps out, we walk through and up to the small cliff area, and look over the water, the fresh air, the smell, the breeze, oh, what a wonderful feeling.  “Come on, lets unpack” Nancy yells out, we all run over and start grabbing bags and groceries out from the trunk.  We go inside, and the cabin is dusty, musty, so we open all windows, and all know our chores for first few minutes, to clean up.  Shake out the bedding, as do not want any water bugs sharing with you at night, and sweep, and make it livable for the weekend.  Time seems to go by fast, as your excited, your knowing what will come next after this.  Put the soda in Fridge outside, Get the propane hooked up, and done!

Next it is to change, get the bathing suit on, maybe pair shorts on over bottoms for now, do not want too much sun too fast, long weekend ahead.  Still waiting for others to show, as there is a friends trailer to the left of us, they will arrive soon, and a friends cabin to the right of us, they usually show later Fri evening.  It will be fun, put out the lawn chairs by the fire pit, stretch out the line we use to keep wet towels and clothes on, and we ready to go.  Walk down the ramp to the dock, can hold three to four boats, none there yet, so its all ours, we would then sit and dangle feet in the water, oh, it’s cold, but we keep doing it.

We would hear kids yelling, “Hey”, turn to look and our friends who use trailer have arrived, they are about to park, four kids pile out of the car, they are reading to just go and jump into the lake.  The moms are now getting all the final things ready so we are all set for a weekend of fun.  Kids are now all down on the dock and ready to jump in.  Eddie, the oldest besides me, jumps in first, he yells “shit”  as the water was a bit colder then thought.  We laugh.  But we each take a turn.  I ease in off the dock, we still wear old tennis shoes as we never know if there is some broken glass that has washed up close to docks, so to be safe, we keep them on.  Oh, it is cold, put my legs down in, hands still on dock, easing my way, to my thighs, “oh, cold”  I say, but keep on easing in.  Soon I’m in the water, waist deep, not too bad, but the water is cold, chills every bone in my body, but before can continue to adjust, do the thing,  I would just toss myself backward, and my whole body would sink into the darkness of the water, come up, soaking wet, hair all over my face, push it back, and let out a slight  “cold” yell, as we all laugh, and then you lower your body to your neck deep, as it seems to keep you warmer if , you do.

All of us, splashing, swimming, enjoying the water, no thoughts of school, no worries, no cares, it is time to have FUN…
