This is a story for my English assignment at school. It is about the sadness in my life and how my mom went through hardships as I grew.
What is… a Good Life?
Prologue
2011
Day after day I long for something that I never could have. The smile of mine is a mask; the truths of my life are under its shadow. Everyone has desires; I desire the most is a great life and happiness. My life is filled with stress and misfortune, all that I hope someday to flush away. No one has a perfect life, but people make the best of it. I make the best of everyday I have, but someone must ruin your happiness reign. But it isn’t their fault, but it’s the selfishness that lives within everyone.
People have different definitions of a great life, for me, I define it as a stress less, happy existence. Some are born wealthy and luxury to start their lives. Others have the opposite, but they work hard to get on the better side of the coin. I was born in between, not wealthy and not poor, but in the middle. The middle may sound okay, but it is a challenge; a challenge to try and tilt over to the good and wealthier side of the balance.
Ever since I came to Canada, I haven’t had a single good day
My mother has said that numerous times. But now at age fifteen, I truly understand my mother’s words. From birth until now, my mother was the one true person who ever cared for me. My father and the rest of my family didn’t care much, my father especially. My one of memories of my father would be around when I was five. That memory was how I made up my wish, the wish of having a great life. But up to this day I still ask, what is a great life?
Mom
2001
I want to get out of this place, away from that horrible man. Alex deserves a better life than this, that man wasn’t fit to be a father from the start. Our child has only started his career as a student and already, his future doesn’t seem good with his father in the picture.
