A short story of an online romance!
Will she be online?
Craig fired up his PC and waited for the security checks to run through then he put in his password. Craig was like anyone else in the world he opened up his emails and checked for anything interesting. He opened up E-Bay to check on items he had bid on in the vain hope of that elusive bargain.
Then Craig’s heart began pounding against his rib cage he pulled up Facebook and entered his password. The blue bordered screen opened up and news of his friends and work colleagues filtered through in order of entry. He wasn’t really interested in those items although they were his friends and family he was looking for Rachel! Dear Rachel. Craig could not sit still in his seat! Today was going to be the day! The day they agreed to turn on the camera’s on their PC’s.
Craig thought back to how he had gotten to this stage? He was in a relationship and from the outside world it seemed ok. It seemed the usual one car family living in a two up two down house in a London suburb. Craig had been with his partner Leslie for eight years and in all honesty the spark was barely alight in their relationship.
One rainy Sunday afternoon Craig was looking through his Facebook friends more out of boredom than interest. He saw a blonde hair woman around 40 years old? He mused ‘I cant remember who she even is?’ he looked through her Facebook friends and he realised she was a fellow part time writer of short stories that’s how they linked on FB.
Craig went back to the FB home page and looked who was online for a chat? He saw Rachel was online! In a moment of madness he sent an instant message,
“Hi Rachel how is the writing going? I’m having a dry day can’t think of any ideas?”
There was a long gap and Craig was half glad she didn’t reply as he was a little nervous at the thought of being so forward and was expecting rejection by silence then,
“ Poor you I get writers block sometimes I either go for a walk or have a glass of wine! On bad days I do both! Oh by the way no offence who are you?”
