Two people, two perspectives. One person and two perspectives. This piece is about an internal debate between two halves of a person but also portrays societies standards and limits. One is reserved and the other outgoing. Are you looking through the window to see in or gaze out?

Your window reflects a cold scenery of a white washed winter. Cautiously walk to the edge of your body not daring to risk placing a foot outside yourself. Inside it appears to be a comforting explosion of blues and greens, a steady breeze to hold your insanity in place. I wish you could see me, out here.

Shadows rain down towards the blanket of frozen rain powder. Blurry silhouettes scar the sanitary landscape with trails of decisions. Each step leads closer to a solution to my question, where are they going? Stepping away from the window I cautiously fall back into the cushion of greenery and let the reassuring blue sky cast me out into a world beyond my grasp. Outside. Dreamers who dared to challenge the safe haven inside themselves snuck out their windows and ventured where I will not go. They were never seen again and I have forbidden myself to let their delicate mark on history fracture my hope for survival. The white snow resembles characteristics that my white clouds possess, only it is anchored on the ground and they sail freely overhead. It’s a nightmare beyond me.

I see the body leave the window. Pity fills me and overwhelms the security I feel here, on the outside. How can someone confess to living when they are victims of false beliefs. To at least crack the glass barrier enough to catch a glimpse of a wind that will send a chill of excitement through the tame skeleton that is asking to be released from it’s jail of fleshly skin and organs. I’m but a blur to them though, clarity is not found by those who will not dare to seek. Though I have never stepped inside nor do I desire to I often wonder, what’s so great about being trapped?
