Don’t know what you’ll make of it….
Life these days is not what it was thought to be many years ago. In the old days one had the notion of life as being the constant that all men and women must achieve, in order to be full as people and personalities. Today, life, has lost its meaning. It’s something different, something that involves a continuous struggle, not necessarily involving happiness and children and fond memories, but an ongoing fight to survive.
Economic, political and social factors, have contributed to the modern fall of man’s quality of living. How did it come to this?
People nowadays, not everyone, judge everybody on the parameter of how much money they make, and how well they are positioned in the social hierarchy, and status. Some may say that this existed since the invention of money, yet it was not the case many many years ago.
For example in the known City- States in Ancient Greece, men were judged not by their ability to earn money and their possessions. They were judged on their ability to comprehend the mysteries of life, the universe and their environment. Surely there were a lot of inequalities regarding certain classes of people and women, yet those were not frown upon. Yet everyone had the understanding that man could achieve more in life by expanding the parameters of his way of thinking and evolving his life by acquiring more knowledge.
Yet today, knowledge to some extent, seems overrated. People don’t read as much as they used to, or discuss issues as must as they used to. They simply work and work, in order to achieve a slight improvement in their life, by gaining more money in an inhospitable environment.
Life should not be about money. Life should not be about the people we know. Life should not be constricted within walls of well-mannerisms, and so called good behavior, at least what is thought of being as good behavior. Life should not be held down by our cries and anxieties of tomorrow. Life should be a kick in the ass, cause no matter how crappy it is, it’s worth having it, just for the sake of it.
We find ourselves being tangled around stupid notions and beliefs simply due to the people we interact on a daily basis, at work, at home, in bars and clubs, in the metro station, at the cue in the 7-11, and we forget that none of this actually matters. We place emphasis on what people say, and not on what people do. We think and think and think on how to make it another day, and remain within a vicious circle that has no turning back, simply because the system (a total waste of a system, if you ask me) works this way. And yes you may have certain people (like me) who due to the fact that they were enriched with books and movies from an early stage in life, occasionally come out and say that the system requires a shock. A shock not entirely ideological, but physical. Cause Ideology simply died along with the end of the Cold War. Suddenly as you read these words, the power fails, your computer shuts down, and the only thing you can think of, is how much this thing you were reading resembled the Sith teachings of Darth Cidius, in the Star Wars Saga. Well, you are right. I wish I could escape (NOT), bringing an understanding of life through the philosophy of the Jedi/Sith orders. Yet they made sense, not in a literal way, but they did make sense.
